AU WORKSHOP - JANUARY Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please note; due to player polls, players may now apply for characters without a reservation. Applications open on January 25th at 12am EST. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! As a note, we will update the application page with a space for current players to link their full AC for our review should a player wish to apply without a reserve. • Most importantly, as a friendly note: Recollé will be going into its endgame this year. Yep! Anyone who's on Retrospec can see and hear him at least somewhat due to the resonance world change thing, but he'd probably be kind of transparent and not quite there... but if they can generally see spirits and stuff, then he'll be completely visible/audible/opaque/etc!

Also there was a Thing in November where a bunch of dead people came back and were semi visible to everyone, even people not on the app, and they gradually became more and more real/alive seeming throughout the month before they all moved on, and that happened to Jamie as well—ordinary people started to see him again, and things went more and more back to normal until December hit and he was 100% invisible again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ok yes this boy definitely needs some balancing, and i do think it'd be pretty beneficial since he can't really be open about his retrospec experiences with his regular therapist.

i'd like for him to be a newish client, if only because in november he started really talking his poor mental health / poor general state of affairs seriously and was like hm. fuck. i should fix this because im miserable.
for a little background, he's a foster kid who has now aged out of the system, and with that came a whole slew of issues which he externalized through acting out. he has a bad temper and uses his abrasive personality as a destructive tool to keep people away from him and to cover his vulnerabilities. his canon background is pretty dark so i won't get into detail here since it deals with pretty sensitive content (like child abuse) but essentially, getting those memories back has put malik in a weird spot where he doesn't know how to cope with the memories. aaand lastly, that intersects with his canon dissociative disorder, so he feels like he has to keep track of like... three other maliks, instead of just himself, and it sort of reinforces his insecurities. who is he really???? what is going on?????

wow that's really heavy, im sorry. but i do want to reiterate that using more holistic methods to help restore some balance to his life would be pretty helpful, since so far he's only been getting help (or rejecting help) in one area at a time, and nothing really like... syncs together to be effective, if that makes sense?

i'm going to do some reading on the therapies in your petalflow link, but i'll also say (again lol) that is nothing else, one of the massages would be gr8 to help him relax. biofeedback might help his temper + impulsivity if he has to stop and take a moment to listen to his body and chill, too.

I’m no holistic therapist but (rolls up sleeves) ahmi will do a crazy gymnastic pirouette into making something work for him. we can always try threading some of that out, but I’ll mostly be winging what would be best for him and we can make it mold into something good for his psych 🙏

a lot of talking, a lot of activities— she’ll definitely do her best!!! and so will i to make it realistic. eventually once she regains godhood, she’ll probably be integrating that into her work so, there’s some. divine intervention, so to speak.

Haha, yes, I remember the event - I ask because Artorius/Arthur actually does have the high amount of resonance that allows him to see spirits and the like. So once that's regained, it's no worries on the invisibility front. I've just never played anyone with an acceptable amount of...that here before, so this is new to me in terms of figuring stuff out. It's appreciated!

AU OCCUPATION: Working at the Recollé Animal Shelter and also the owner of a business that focuses on cat adoptions and care (name to be determined, please give me terrible cat puns)
BLURB:

✦ Born and raised somewhere in Japan, Shigure was surrounded by family for awhile... at least until his parents and grandparents got in a fight and his parents moved them to Recollé when Shigure was very young.
✦ He had trouble learning English and as a result, spent a lot of time acting out. It's something he'd continue to do throughout his years in school, partially because of his temper and partially because he was just really bored during class. Despite this, he made sure to never go too far overboard and usually just remained a class clown and a teacher's headache rather than a complete nightmare student.
✦ Since his parents were so busy, the only companionship he had for a long time was the family cat. Eventually his parents would have another son, but let's be honest, Shigure cared more about the cat. He and his brother are on decent-ish terms, Shigure loves him, but their relationship is complicated (because Shigure is a pain in the ass).
✦ The only thing Shigure really liked about school was gym and any physical activities, and those held his interest really well. He was always super competitive with them, and usually picked them up very quickly and ended up so good he lost interest in pursuing them.
✦ He went to Recollé University after high school, but he only stuck around for two semesters. He didn't know what he wanted to do and taking classes didn't help (and also he still wasn't interested in school), so eventually he gave up and went to live with his grandparents in Japan.
✦ While he was there, he held a lot of odd jobs and eventually spent a lot of time helping out in the Rangetsu family's restaurant. He wasn't in any sort of prominent position, but he definitely learned that this wasn't what he was looking for either.
✦ He returned to Recollé at age 22 and picked up a job at the Recollé Animal Shelter, as well as an apartment all to himself. While he greatly prefers cats, he's pretty good with any animal that comes through the shelter's doors and he's perfectly happy to help out with whatever is needed of him there.
✦ Shigure also owns his own business, a cat adoption agency that works with the animal shelter. They also host cat adoptions and try to drum up business for the animal shelter! His employees are all volunteers, and the organization is still gaining traction. I haven't decided on the name of it yet, so please give me terrible cat puns.
✦ He currently has three cats... and fosters others until they can be taken in by a loving home.
✦ Shigure absolutely looks like he could kill a man, but put him in front of a cat and he will do nothing but play with it for twelve hours. He loves cats so much. But aside from cats, he's also very fond of partying and getting into fights and he has probably been thrown out of bars before so there's that too, I guess.

LOOKING FOR:

Anything, really! People around his age that he would've been in school with, people who would have adopted a cat from him or the animal shelter, fellow animal shelter workers/volunteers, people who volunteer for his business, people who love cats... And for things that are not cat-related, he is very fond of bars and clubs and partying so if your character's into that, it's totally possible they've crossed paths. Ex-girlfriends or boyfriends?? One night stands?? People who have thrown him out of bars?? There are a lot of possibilities here, and Shigure's outgoing and friendly, so we can definitely make something work if you're interested!

There's also the position of his younger brother, and I'm fine having someone take that, but Shigure does have some memories involving family that are kind of a mess. Cousins and extended family are also great too, the Rangetsu family is a pretty large one! I'm open to just about anything though, so hit me up if you've got any ideas and I'm sure we can make it work!

Oh my god I'm laughing so hard.... Please yell at him, I am always 100% down for having anyone yell at him!! He's (usually) pretty chill and doesn't mind the yelling anyway, so!! Please be the responsible one here, Eren. (Not like that's hard....)

But yes, we can absolutely say they know each other from the animal shelter!! He's there most days and while he definitely prefers cats, he's good with dogs and likes them well enough, so he'd definitely be down to talk about your wonderful pets at any time!!

He does Religious Studies primarily - so it's a lot of history and comprehension of religion's place and influence over the world - but there are a lot of things that also fall into that category, such as the philosophy of theology and the like. ...And once in a while he gets roped into doing ethics courses because of course he does.

So it's nothing biological and all explanations of the theoretical or moral/ethical, but hey, got to get your general ed stuff done sometime, right... He is very here for pretentiously studying and those that also like to do it, however, so if you've got anything else you'd want to do I am also down for pretty much anything!

That is a very good question - honestly, he'd be strict about it but he's more prone to trying to handle and defuse the situation on his own as opposed to saying anything to any sort of authorities, so there's that.

Arthur's AU background on that front is at least more forgiving, so he'd be less prone to be messed up about it to people in his daily life; straight from canon, he was the Shepherd and head exorcist of a group known as the Abbey and hailed as the savior of mankind, and his goals basically involved cleansing the world of sin and ridding it of daemons, so those are the sort of memories he's going to be getting on his end. He was also incredibly interested in other people's worldviews and trying to test their character through conversation and occasionally just seeing what they were capable of, something that's carried over into his AU but to a far less...strange...degree.

ANYWAYS ex-girlfriends you say... but in all seriousness, rose is also super fond of bars and the like, so there's a high chance of them having run into each other a lot! she's extremely allergic to commitment though so it was likely either something like repeated one-night stands/fwb or it ended super messily because rose is.
