Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. CHARACTER: Roderic Daniel Pyre.
CANON: Original. Specifically, he comes from a world with filled with typical superheroes antics you expect from the genre - Metahumans, league of superheroes, bad guys trying to take over the moon, and secret conspiracies from shadowy agencies! Roderic's origins are the last bit, being a secret government test subject. He's metahuman engineered to be a loyal wetwork agent for the government. Meaning lots of sadness and pains and tests. Fed up with after One Bad Day, he ran away to New York with a fellow agent/his last friend left. Soon became the unwilling but trying sidekick to his friend who wanted to be a superhero. Shenanigans and tears ensued.

AU NAME: Roderic Demetrio [Last Name TBD]
AU AGE: 10-years-old.
AU OCCUPATION: Student! Little inventor in the making.
BLURB:

AU HISTORY
An orphan who was first found at Viea Village's fire station as a baby, Roderic spent time in the Orphanage before being placed into a foster family at the age of five. The family - wealthy, successful, strong ties to influential people - seemed too good to be true and that was the case. They only wanted the very best and it didn't matter what it took to get there since they were obsessed with getting the best and brightest under them.

So they forced him to study and practice under harsh conditions and he faced harsher punishments for over three years. It eventually culminated in him passing out in the middle of a school day due to being faint from hunger and telling the teachers/doctors/policepeople about what was going on. Thankfully, his social worker pulled him out of there though he has no clue what happened to the foster family after that. It'll almost be two years since he was pulled out from there, about to turn ten this year and very excited about the new opportunities ahead of him.

AU PERSONALITY
First impressions of Roderic aren't that great: He's rather shy and nervous around strangers, a mixture of his normal demeanour and from what he experienced with the foster family in the past. Loud noises, from bangs to yelling, can easily make him break into tears and he seizes up when something stressful happens. But if you're willing to dig a bit and get to know him, Roderic is more than a fretful kiddo who'll hide behind a wall and peek around a corner.

His curiosity and his love for learning thankfully is still alive and well, allowing him to retain a love for knowledge and a desire to know the world around him. It pushes him to speak with people, learn from them, and allow his happy, cheerful self to shine and shine on when he makes a friend. He's loyal to a fault for those he loves, willing to defend them to keep them safe and sound, and he loathes bullies after coming to terms with what happened to him with the family. Roderic is still growing up but he's learned a lot in his short life and who knows what else he'll learn soon enough.

LOOKING FOR:

Family! I would love it if… Roderic could have an actual family to call his own in the game. If anyone is interested in taking him in, I promise you the little boy here will think your character is the greatest person in the world and adore them if they encourage/allow his love for learning/building stuff and experiments.

Friends! His age, older than him, and far much older than him - Roderic just wants to make buddies with people. He'll hug his friends, ask how they are, and even get them presents as signs of friendships! (Just… please… don't mind the possibility of his gifts exploding or catching on fire…)

Also... if anyone's interested... the person who listened to his story when he passed out at school and was asking him what was wrong?? He would be so grateful to the person and consider them one of his role models/idols/best friends and be very clingy yet sweet and hero worship them to the max. Could be a teacher, a law enforcement officer, a nurse/doctor - Just anyone in a position of authority over him who trusted his words and blew the whistle on what was going on.

People to ask questions!!! In his history that I'll be expanding on, he'll have a reputation of sneaking into college during the weekends to learn more during workshop and anything mechanics/invention making related. And he'll no doubt pester older students and other teachers to learn more about them and what they do and what they're studying and etc.

If you want an older friend, Augustine might be the one for you.

Let's face it. This guy is too kind for his own good, considering he hasn't experienced a certain gym leader's... (coughs) explosive gadgets...

I'M LATE BUT WHAT UP!!

I would love more CR with you so yes please on them knowing each other. Him being sweet to Roderic would probably explain why he latched on to him so quickly to be honest. And I can see him loving the idea of knowing more about animals??

Expect this boy to sneak into your classroom/office and pester you with endless questions about cats and dogs, Augustine.

Don't worry, he will endure most of his questions. Somehow.

Also, maybe he might visit him at the animal shelter during the weekend so Augustine might let him see the cats and dogs.

Because... Roderic has a dog in canon who he a d o r e s and they happen to be a beagle. So Augustine letting Roddy visit and meeting the beagle that was mentioned in our current log thread would be really neat. ; w ; I like this relationship already because Roddy would be the type to cling to Augustine and ask if he can stay for five more minutes pleaaaaase.

Child. Roderic sounds adorable, what the heck. I wish I had Ryoji's AU history open for family, but I'd love for him to be an older friend/big brother figure!! Ryoji's overwhelmingly cheerful and kind himself, so I feel like he'd love somebody similar to him :3c

Look at this face and know, deep in your heart, this is a boy who would love to give gifts for people and nearly cry from joy when they tell him they like it because he's so happy they're happy.

And an older brother figure would be great for him! He would love to hang out with Ryoji and ask him if he can help out or join him on his day somehow. Just tag around like a nervous duck and just enjoy his company, get him little knickknacks he made himself. (Which may or may not work and may or may not explode but it's the thought that counts.)

Do I even need to reach deep into my heart? Nah, I love characters who are happy when others are happy :')

Ryoji doesn't have a day job, but he goes around doing whatever he wants, whenever he wants, so there'll be plenty of opportunity for him to tow Roderic around— "Let's go to the aquarium!" or "The high school has a intramural baseball game today, let's go watch!" or whatever. Helping would be like, "hey, this thing is smoking, what do I do???" lmao

So you're looking for adopted family, right?? Leo here has au history including a younger sibling but there's nothing saying they can't be adopted, if you're up for it! He and his mom are both mechanics, and financially they're not the best off but I feel like his mom would definitely take in a kid in need.

I am!! I would love for Roderic to be the younger brother of Leo, especially if he was taken in shortly after being pulled out from the former family when he was around eight or so. Leo's mom sounds so sweet and them being mechanics actually works perfectly considering his skills and his own background of being a mechanic in his world. He probably would have been shy around the early months of the adoption but warmed up to them soon enough.

Definitely enough to have him try and tag along with Leo, if he allowed that, and tried to be helpful/proactive/cheerful while they were together.

That sounds awesome to me!! They'd be happy to work with him and help him out of that shell honestly. And once Leo's memories start coming back he's definitely going to understand why Roderic was like that when they first took him in, since he was in some pretty bad foster homes himself in canon.

And Leo wouldn't at all mind if he tags along either! He'll just try to make sure Roderic doesn't join him for his more... questionably legal ventures lol. Maybe they can find a project to work on together though!

Oh the idea of them spending time together doing a project of sorts is really cute. I'm looking forward to this CR so much now eeep!

Would it be alright if I mentioned this in my application for him along with taking up Leo's last name in the game? I would love to have this be noted since Leo and his mom would have a really positive impact on Roderic here!

And I'll tag your toplevel in the TDM soon! The last few weeks has been nuts but fingers crossed I'll get it all done by today since I would love for Roderic and Leo to be in the same app cycle. I'm really torn between the idea of Roderic texting him to ask if he's alright or tagging along in his investigation with the subway but hopefully I'll make a decision soon for this.

Maybe they can work together to fix up a car or a scooter or something? Or build little robots and such!

I'm totally okay with that! I'll mention it in my app, too; I think it'll be good for the both of them! Leo needs a reason to reign himself in sometimes lol and being a good influence for his little bro is a start haha.

Sorry, I know I made a CR for Sycamore, but I just can't help to include this spy/actor kid.

Tony may be acts cold to other older characters, but he'll make an exception to Roderic as he really wants to make friends with other kids in his age. He might even be excited when he sees a cool invention that Roderic made.

I don't mind at all because all the CR with you is great CR. o /

Roderic having friends around his age would be great so yes please with them being buddies. I can totally see them meeting up and doing little experiments and building-things-a-thon to pass the time. He's a little shy but Tony being around will definitely help him come out of his shell and make him more likely to be lively/cheerful/confident around others. At least whenever Tony is around to give him strength!!

Sure, that would be cool! Also, maybe Roderic met Tony during his first week in Recolle Junior High or something where he has trouble fitting in with the normal kids because he's a child actor!

That can work with me! Roderic is still in elementary school due to his age - roughly around that level at least from what I understand of the education system of the U.S. right now - but they can definitely meet during Tony's first week at school there.

He wouldn't have had chance to watch a lot of TV or browse the internet in the past and, as a result, not known Tony's history. That definitely could help the two in becoming faster friends with one another since he would have been too shy to approach/speak with Tony otherwise, haha.

That also works as well, since he wants to balance his normal life with his acting job and having a friend who doesn't know about his history might be a good thing for him!

hey melly it's lucy...THALIA COULD BE A BABYSITTER? idk if she'd work for the whistle-blowing but she comes from a crap family background so she Would Have if you need that

HELLO!!! I AM LATE BUT YES... I'm totally okay with Thalia just being a babysitter for Roderic. He would be very shy but try his best to be a good charge and probably take a while to warm up to her but when he does...

I am sorry. He's a bit like velcro the moment he gets affection or he starts to like someone. Starts following them around and tries to do anything to make them like him.

She is ok with velcro! she can keep babysitting regardless of his placement because yeah she actually likes kids...shockingly!!! she's pretty tough love but in a nice way?
