Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here.

• Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM.
• For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC!

AU OCCUPATION: currently a cleaner working as part of an agency; moonlights as a fiction writer
BLURB:

Looks like this... but more goth aesthetic in clothes. Also, she is mute and was born mute.

Her birth parents were involved in organised crime, and she witnessed a fair amount of shady shit happening around them during her formative years because of it, but they were loving and protective of her while they were around.

When she was young, said parents were involved in a motorcycle accident, resulting in her getting shunted into the foster care system. She has kept in sporadic touch with them, but has not seen them in some time.

After being passed around for a while, she settled down with one family in particular and was looked after well, although she took a while to come out of her shell and never quite felt like she fit in.

It took a while for her adopted family/doctors/teachers to realise that her verbal development was not hindered by her mutism. While they did figure it out in time for her to take ASL classes in school, she isn't fluent and prefers written communication.

School was also a mixed bag for her - she got good grades, but was frustrated with the lack of support, leading to occasional outbursts of violent behaviour. These became less frequent going from middle to high school once she finally made friends and discovered a passion for literature, mythology and fairytales in particular.

She started submitting her writing to magazines and competitions during high school, and has never stopped. In writing, her down-to-earth and often surprisingly forward personality comes out more than in person.

After graduating from high school, still living with her adopted family, she began drifting from odd job to odd job - she couldn't be picky with places that accommodated her mutism, but she was also looking for somewhere she could feel at ease and save up some rainy day money in preparation for breaking into the writing world. She hasn't yet found a job that fits the bill. Possible brief stints in admin jobs, cafes/restaurants/other service work, cleaning, courier work, babysitting...

Rather than initially searching for her head, she starts out searching for a place to belong in society. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LOOKING FOR:

Places for her to work or have worked! Coworkers, customers from one of the times she might have worked in a cafe, parents / colleagues from when she worked in childcare?

Friends and other people she might have kept in touch with from school

Fellow writer types? She's up-and-coming, but under the K. Sturluson pseudonym she hasn't been shy about trying to make contacts in the industry.

lmao DRRR is a huge mess but I can't help liking most of the major characters :') I STILL HAVENT DECIDED WHO WOULD BE THE FORERUNNER AMONG PERSONA/SMTS... maybe Jungo from DeSu2..... who is also associated with a cat............

but yeah cat cafe works, she likes cats even if they don't really like her (that's how she'll lose her head it won't be a regain she'll just upset a stray cat enough to claw it clean off) (that might also be why she left...)

I can see Roberta being curious about Caitlin's mutism in a way that isn't rude or condescending, so maybe they could be friendly or friends?

Sure! She has no tattoos, but she could have briefly worked in the same place or just happened to meet somewhere and struck up a conversation, she's not particularly shy :|b

CELTY. CELTY. Look, okay, Togusa is a police officer. He can communicate using subvocal communication over text, so he communicates a lot using text over the network too, just. We an work something out, I just need/want CR with Celty she is the best.

she's fun :3c For hilarity he might happen across her birth parents' ~crime connections~ sometime after having met her? Or before? She's not super trusting of law enforcement even outside of all of that, but she's chatty enough and has worked fucking everywhere, if you have ideas for some other context they could have met in?

I've needed this CR my whole life, oh my gosh.

If you do decide to app Celty in the future, she and Kouhei here are really similar, so I think they could relate to each other on several levels! While not entirely deaf, he's severely hard of hearing, so having someone who understands that struggle would be really important to Kouhei. He's fluent in JSL and pretty good with ASL, but he'd be more than happy to converse with her using his voice and written communication! It might be a relief to not have to use his ears or lipread.

That aside, while he doesn't write himself, he's an English/literature major and nothing short of addicted to reading. Combining that with both of them searching for a place they fit in with society, they have a great deal in common, and I think they'd get along really well!

I didn't mean for that to turn into a mini essay, but in short, allow me to steeple my fingers.

Ayyy I love gushing c: They seem to be about the right ages to have met in school or something (...high school newspaper club??) if that sounds good to you? (her eng major buddies get extremely edgy wips sent to them in email attachments in the middle of the night sometimes and wry commentary on the publishing industry at others, I'm sorry I don't make the rules)

Bring on the edgy WIPs, honestly. He'd be more than happy to listen to all of her publishing industry salt, too. Let's commiserate.

I should have mentioned earlier that Kouhei's only been in Recolle for about two years, so high school sadly wouldn't have worked (though they are around the same age - he's 22), but I'm sure we can figure something else out since the have a ton in common! Maybe at one of her odd jobs? He frequents cafes and other quiet places to read (the library, parks, etc.), and checks out things like literary magazines and the like.

But this sounds so excellent, either way! If you do end up apping her, she'd be welcomed with open arms!

Oops I missed that part! She does write in the library from time to time and she doesn't really keep her pseudonym secret so much as she thinks it sounds cooler, that works too o/ I'm hoping I can find the time, I think she def has potential in this setting!

right now odasaku happens to be stable at the inkwell, which is a literary themed cafe, but before then he did do the same drifting from odd job to odd job thing lol
