Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. CHARACTER: Jack Frost
CANON: Rise of the Guardians

AU NAME: Jackson "Jack" Overland
AU AGE: 18
AU OCCUPATION: High school student

BLURB:

Born in Burgess, Pennsylvania but raised in Recolle when his mother died. Jackson lived with just his dad and his little sister. He adored his sister and always had a good relationship with his dad. Jack was also often the neighborhood prankster, but never anything serious. Jack was always the kid who seemed to be friends with everyone, eagerly playing with anyone who wanted to. He often got a good laugh from people as that's what he always aimed for, often roping his sister into it. Speaking of his sister, Jack often hung out with her and helped her with her ice skating practices as they were often taking turns at the rink. Jack got really into hockey around the end of elementary school and to help her learn her moves, he learned with her, already having quite the control of the ice.

However, that all came tragically to an end around the end of eighth grade when a car accident injured Jack (his knee had twisted) but killed his sister. He stopped playing hockey then and stopped with the pranks. When he was in high school, while he wasn't quite a loner or unfriendly, he was fairly quiet. He kept to his studies instead, although he never outright stopped hanging out with his friends and, as the months went by, his grieving was able to come to an end. By the end of tenth grade, Jack was able to smile a bit more and, with some nudging from his father, decided to take up hockey once more. During the summer, he practiced and worked to get back into the groove of the game and soon tried out for the Recolle High School Varsity team, making it in during Junior year and by Senior year, he was the star player. Of course, with Senior year came the questions of what he wanted to do with himself by the time college came around.

Continue playing or put the stick down for good and work toward something out? Well, it seemed the question was answered for him soon enough. When the town turned white and no colors were visible, Jack had been trying to find his way home when he tripped and fell onto the street, badly injuring his knee that had already been weakened from the car accident. Of course his luck would be that he spends the last month of school in a cast and crutches! But, Jack decided to take this as a sign. He would use the summer to figure out what he wanted to do and, should his injury heal well enough that he can make the physical therapy work with his schedule, he would apply for the fall semester. But, if he had to wait until Spring, he didn't mind. Jack would make this work.

On a physical note, Jack will be a brunette (of course) and have heterochromia, one blue eye and one brown eye.

Obviously, once the layers are restored and people went back to NPC status, Jack won't remember how he got injured (aside from tripping, obviously) until he gets onto the app and will remember again (assuming that can happen, of course!). Will add more below as this is all from his WIP application :>!

LOOKING FOR: Friends, mostly. Wouldn't mind a dad character actually being his dad if anyone wants to go that route. Aside from that, mostly friendly CR, although I'm not opposed to negative CR either.

AU OCCUPATION: Student(A year behind)
BLURB:
- His folks were killed during a drug bust, in the same house he was sleeping in (dealing with PTSD)
- Father was a mob boss, mother was a hooker
- Trust issues (many have outright lied to him and taken advantage of him)
- Like his cannon counterpart, he is hard on himself, loyal (once he trusts you), stubborn, cares deeply (though he will sometimes try to hide it, it shows though) and can be insecure
- Hoards food cause “you never know”, he will always have food on his person (How? Pockets…plenty of them, don’t think about it too hard), might share sometimes, God knows from where though
- He has no idea what he wants to do with his life, paranoid about having to leave
- Younger adopted brother of Derek Matthews (with permission of

- Before being adopted by the Matthews, he had an awful foster family, ran away, worked at a warehouse, slept in a truck one nite after closing, woke up in Recollé where the local orphanage took him
- Haunted at how he couldn’t save his mother (hated his dad and other ppl who act like him)
- Doesn’t mind stealing (usually snacks from bullies or people he doesn’t like)
- Hasn’t really found himself/explored much, loves parties, clubs, enamored by sword play, also loves board games (family activity nights with the Mathews exposed him to board games)
- Protective about his phone, doesn’t really spend too much time in social media
- Agile, plays sports(is considering joining a fencing club)

LOOKING FOR: Friends,
classmates, teachers, adult roll models to get this punk to straighten up and
face his issues, peolpe who can teach him about swords, any law enforcement
that can help him stop stealing (Derek's tried and doesn't know what to do),
people who will invite him to parties.

» Had set his sights on being in the military, and was shooting for the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Between his athletics and grades he was considered practically a shoo-in. While he was doing his initial round of testing, however, it was discovered he suffers from (what was then) previously-undiagnosed cardiomyopathy and was turned down. According to the doctors he was lucky he hadn't collapsed during football before that point.

BLURB:
- first generation Japanese, probably from a wealthy family like his canon self, or maybe not. Undecided!
- has a degree in literature from a prestigious Japanese university
- was engaged to be married to the love of his life that he met in university.
- future spouse and/or a teaching opportunity led him to Recolle, however the betrothal was eventually broken amicably. He liked the city enough to stay.
- Interests and opportunities took him out of the literary world and into the world of candy. So he opened up his own shop! He realizes how unusual it is.
- the shop specializes in old fashioned style candy, but sells modern favorites as well as Japanese candies.
- he is active in the community his business is in, attending town meetings and fundraisers and etc.

AU NAME: Suzu Kiryu
AU AGE: 20
AU OCCUPATION: University Student / Serial Part-Timer
BLURB:
~~I condensed a lot of stuff to avoid word vomit so if you need any clarification on stuff lmk~~
Little sister status has been permitted by taishou

☠ The fabled younger sister of Kuro Kiryu that lives with him!

☠ Her appearance is similar to her first year one. Still has heterochromia, but with non-anime colors (lol). Her right eye is a dark brown, while her left is a significantly lighter shade. It’s a big source of her insecurities, especially since she was bullied a lot as a child for it. She initially keeps her left eye hidden under her hair.

☠ She blames herself for their parents’ fallout, their father walking out on them, and Kuro’s delinquency among other unfortunate events, and sometimes even considers the idea that she’s cursed because of her eyes, and that just existing causes terrible fates to anyone she gets emotionally close to. It doesn’t help that her in-canon bad luck followed her here; minor inconveniences are a common thing for her, like the bus always driving away as soon as she walks to the bus stop, or forgetting an umbrella on the day it rains.

☠ Rather than lash out and push everyone away by becoming a foul-mouthed chuunibyou punk like in canon, she decides to try and be straightlaced and quiet, with her goal being to not cause further problems for others. She and her brother are in a good-ish place in life right now compared to before, so she doesn’t want to Ruin It as much as possible. This results in her having a personality closer to the one she had during her first year of high school in canon: shy, naive, fearful of Many Things, 500% gloomy, and very prone to tears. But very Soft™.

☠ Though she’s dumber than a bag of hammers and dislikes studying in canon, in Recolle she’s a scholarship student at the university thanks to her high grades in high school. It’s mostly through heavy studying and overworking via high school volunteering, though, rather than inherent intelligence. In non-academic situations she’s still pretty slow-witted.

☠ Speaking of slow-witted, while Suzu tries to stay quiet and passive, she has no emotional and verbal filter, and tends to put her foot in her mouth because she can’t keep her immediate thoughts to herself. At the very least, she’s more subtle with her emotions, unlike when she’s a chuunibyou.

☠ She’s also still highly gullible, and can easily fall for pranks and lies. Go on, convince her that eggs aren’t real.

☠ She’s a Nursing major; it’s a long-term investment for a stable source of income. It was also initially because of a naive childhood desire to help contribute to taking care of her mother, but that’s moot now. She’s struggling with the highly demanding and often confusing coursework, but she still tries to endure.

☠ She also does a lot of part-time/temp jobs here and there for extra money, despite how much she hates being seen by people. Suzu is very Determined not to be a financial burden, or a burden of any sort for her brother.

☠ Despite her struggles with her coursework and her unsociable personality, she’s very good at taking care of people. Due to Kuro always getting into fights when they were kids, Suzu has made it a habit to carry around a first aid kit and bandaids with cute patterns on them on her person at all times. She can’t help but be attentive to people younger than her and/or idiots who don’t know how to take care of themselves, and can sometimes blurt out unsolicited advice.

☠ In this AU, Suzu isn’t that deeply involved in music beyond listening to whatever’s on the radio, due to having forgone chances to develop definitive hobbies in favor of studying and working hard so she’s not a burden to her family. She still does exhibit a subtle fondness for horror movies, creepy things, and cat videos, though.

☠ Is generally more cheerful and talkative around people she knows well. Suzu struggles between conflicting feelings of not wanting to be left alone, but has moments where she feels that people are better off abandoning her. This results in her having the tendency to put the happiness of her friends and family above her own.

☠ She shows subtle signs of being annoyed with Kuro’s overbearing treatment towards her sometimes, but puts up with it since she understands and appreciates everything he’s done to support the two of them. She’s pretty honest about him being something like her hero, at least!

LOOKING FOR: Due to her withdrawn personality, she’s easier to be befriended by people who are outgoing and overly persistent enough to not let her be a loner. However, she will definitely pay attention to anyone who don’t take care of themselves well, and/or tend to get injured due to their clumsiness/stupidity and mother hen them to death in her own way. Also, some asshole who can introduce her to the glorious world of rock music/put a guitar in her hands and jumpstart her downward spiral back into being an Angry edgelord punk would be gr8.

second oldest child of the very well known (in japan) kumou family. he has an older brother and a younger one and two very loving parents....

or well more like he HAD two very loving parents because they've been very DEAD since almost a year behind. he's still traumatized because he witnessed the murder (and almost got killed himself) but he's basically repressed the memory.

since he feels like he's being babied because of his trauma, soramaru decides that he's going to do something DRASTIC to prove the family that he can be depended upon! he's a kumou it's basically a rule to think with your heart and not with your brain. eh.

so he moved to recolle because this boy is too stubborn for his own damn good and has kind of regretted it ever past the second week. he's a family boy and now he's all alone and theRE WERE NO COMMUNICATIONS SO HE WAS SAD AND RIDICULOUSLY WORRIED.

that aside, he's a junior in high school! despite how much he complains about disliking school, he's actually taking a shit ton of advanced classes because he wants to prove that he's as smart as his older sibling! his sleeping schedule regrets it, but it's a small sacrifice.

he plays soccer! honestly i don't know why i chose soccer he just seems like a soccer kind of boy.

also practices kendo.

friends: soramaru may not be as much of a social butterfly as his brothers but he still does like interacting with others? who needs a straight man for your comedy duo? he's the one, except it's not for comedy it's for like 90% of the situations.

AU OCCUPATION: University Student/Seasonal Tennis Player

BLURB:

★ Was born in the US to a middle-upper class family.
★ At a very young age, her parents had her go through an array of hobbies and other activities until she found one that she felt comfortable in -- tennis.
★ Ava had a natural talent for tennis; however she lacked balance and stamina.
★ She was registered to take aikido classes a year later.
★ Was raised in a overly strict, conservative household with a mother that uses her talents and achievements as though they were her own (extreme stage mom or soccer mom types).
★ Once she began middle school, Ava began to participate in countless tennis and aikido tournaments.
★ Ava did the best in tennis to which she began to gain classifications and high rankings.
★ Due to her parent's work and wish for her to better improve in the sports she was actively participating in, Ava had to move a couple of times across the US: Texas, California, Florida, and Georgia to name a few.
★ In Texas she was introduced to parkour by a couple of friends from the local tennis club as a way to help her escape from home (since her mother is overbearing).
★ After witnessing her mother actively harm another player during a tournament, Ava began to grow guilty conscious, losing all of her motivation and realizing the immense amount of pressure her parents were pushing onto her, after purposely losing that particular tournament.
★ Discouraged by her lack of improvement in reaching the necessary titles to play internationally, she decided to live a semi-normal life in high school, doing whatever she wanted and participating in whatever sport for enjoyment.
★ Ava joined the tennis teams at Recolle High School with the requirement that she could arrive for practice whenever she wanted to in exchange of representing the team for major tournaments.
★ Ava had decided to dedicate most of her energy on aikido to help maintain her figure and skills in the mean time.
★ Throughout high school, whenever she wasn't participating in any major tournaments, Ava's mother forced her to work in the family business.
★ Whenever it became active season for tournaments, Ava would always score high for the school while occasionally winning them awards.
★ In her senior year of high school, Ava and her family moved back to New York, so she finished her final year in a presdigous academy.
★ Due to her impressive skills in tennis, she gained a full scholarship for Recolle University as long as she joins the tennis club as an official member.
★ Her official major of study at the university is business, to become a consultant, just like her mother.
★ Other than parkour or going out on her own, running helps her relax whenever she is feeling overly anxious or stressed out.
★ She is very superstitious, doesn't believe in luck, and is afraid of anything related to occultism or "true" magic.
★ Has no interest in religion, but does follow the pacifist philosophies taught in aikido.
