AU WORKSHOP - MARCH Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. BLURB:

❖ Born and raised in America (can only speak basic conversational Japanese) as a single child by only his father (mother not in the picture). He lived a relatively happy life until he was eight when his father unexpectedntly passed away. As a result of his death, Jouhei moved to the countryside to stay with his grandparents and uncle who owned a farm (and was in the middle of nowhere). He pretty much stayed there for the next ~10 years until he decided that he wanted to go to veterinary school and his grandparents sent him off to Recolle when he was 18.

❖ Despite spending part of his childhood in the city, he's pretty much a country-bumpkin. He really liked it out there and while there are pros of living in a city (holy shit, everything is within walking distance), he'd prefers the country. Someone please make jokes about him wearing overalls and having a straw in his mouth.

❖ Partially because of his past, he is veryyyyyyy quiet. He's the type of person to keep to himself and blend into the background rather than beaming with energy and be somewhere up front. He's a man of few words and you'd kind of have to rib him or get close enough for him to speak more than a few sentences.

❖ However, Jouhei is a huge fan of sweets, like really big fan. You can easily grab his attention if you say you'll treat him to a slice of cake or something so I guess you can get him to talk that way. Asides from that, you'll probably see him in the candy aisle of the store every so often. He likes carrying around little pieces of hard candy on him so he can get his sugar rush whenever.

❖ He is always wearing an old, battered black baseball (a keepsake from his late father) and when I mean always, I mean it. Always.

❖ This is his phone. For the love of God, someone please take it, chuck it off a bridge, and give him a smartphone.

❖ Also has a very basic phone plan that gives him limited minutes, no data, and gets charged for text messages. He somehow survives with this.

❖ He's a master of Snake because it's the only game on his shitty phone. He once beat it by reaching the maximum length of the snake and couldn't do anything else. It was wonderful and someone should show him all the cool new phone games so he can play them. He will be blown away by Candy Crush.

❖ While attending veterinary school, he also works as a veterinary assistant at a local, small vet clinic. Nothing really special but if you have a pet, you might have seen him here and there.

❖ Leads a very boring life. It's pretty much wake up, go to school, go to work, head home, clean and cook, go to sleep, rinse and repeat. Please drag him out and teach him how to have fun.

LOOKING FOR:

Friends?? Coworkers?? Someone who spams his block phone with text messages and photos and he has to actually call them and tell them to please stop?? Yeah, things like that. Possibly looking for a cousin as well!

So while Elliot's from NYC, his mom's side of the family (which includes Zack and Natalia) all come from this unnamed farming community that's somewhere in America.

Would you be interested in having his grandparent's farm be in or near that same farming community? Elliot was only there during holidays and summers, so he probably wouldn't know Jouhei well - just be like oh there's that one farmer dude with the hat.

i'd be down for that! i was thinking of having his grandparents' farm be pretty far out from others but the nearest community could be the farming community you mentioned! it could be another reason why elliot and jouhei wouldn't know each other well, just becuse elliot is only there for holidays/summers and jouhei is there like.... idk helping his grandparents sell crops or something

i'd definitely like elliot and jouhei to know each other in just passing! then get to know each other more later on

i'd be totally okay with them being cousins! i read into your au history for nanashi and maybe nanashi's father and raidou's father could have been brothers? raidou's father didn't want to get involved in shady shit anymore so he ditched and went to america? i'm pretty open to whatever you want to do in regards with their situation as cousins/how they're related if you want to suggest anything!

Jamie has a cat (who of course sometimes needs vaccinations), and he works at a cat-themed cafe (different from a cat cafe) where it is possible to purchase things such as cookies! So yeah idk

jamie and raidou could definitely have some cr where they're acquaintances! if jamie brings his cat to the clinic, raidou will be willing to take payments in cookies (no he can't but he'd want to)

Minato has his internship at the vet clinic, same where Clover shadows since they're both on the veterinary school track, so acquaintanceship could start from there! Maybe he shadows Raidou half the time/the other half Minato manages the volunteers who help out at the dog sanctuary next door.

oh man, yes, more chances for me to have cr with minato. acquaintanceship can definitely happen there though with how little minato talks and how little raidou will talk, do they only communicate through small gestures and looks

as we discussed, i'd definitely love to have jouhei be a childhood friend with shin! they would've tried to keep in contact, but jouhei being jouhei they probably did it using hand-written letters, which start to get spotty a few years after he left which kind of led them to be distant communication-wise.

also ye i'm running with 5 hrs of sleep sorry if this doesn't make sense.

CHANGES TO TOP-LEVEL:

❖ in fluent in japanese, mostly because his grandparents communicated 90% in it
❖ living with only his grandparents on the farm without an uncle

FAMILY:

❖ nanashi kurosawa - cousins whose fathers were brothers. raidou's father no longer wanted to deal in the shady business that his brother was doing and left japan to start fresh in america, where jouhei was later born. jouhei's grandparents pushed for him to keep in contact with his cousin in japan as family is family so they had phone calls here and there. four years after jouhei moved to recolle, nanashi came to the city as well. for the next year, jouhei kept an eye on his little cousin and even let him have a key to his apartment so whenever nanashi wanted a place to stay or just wanted to come over, jouhei's home would always be open.
