AU WORKSHOP - JANUARY Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Okay mostly this is a silly thing that popped into my head when I was reading the examples on the FAQ. But hen it started to grow on me. I don't even know if I'm sorry...
- A typical teen girl from a wealthy family.
- Bubbly, social, just a little bratty.
- But recently she went with some friends to an open audition for a role on a drama series.
-She got the part
-Said part is a supporting role on a popular drama based on a series of bestselling fantasy novels.
-A Song of Crystals and Demons is an increasingly confusing narrative involving warring kingdoms, a prince on the run, and a bunch of mysterious supernatural goings on.
-Iris plays the younger sister of one of the main characters, but has recently become a fan favorite despite the actual size of her role.
-Actually, they might be increasing her part in response to fan hype. She's not going to let that go to her head though. Much.
-Although, it turns out that acting is harder work and far less glamorous than she imagined it.
-She's stubborn though, can't back out now.
LOOKING FOR: Almost anything. This obviously needs a lot more fleshing out and I'd love suggestions.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Go for it? I'm open to ideas.

Ardyn's family will also be a wealthy one, though he doesn't interact with them often. Still, the social circles are there and they may have crossed paths by vague association alone?
I mean, other than by knowing her via a popular drama series, too.

Obviously with him being the black sheep of the family she's been told not to talk to him. But when you're fifteen that really just sounds like a challenge. He can be a bad influence on her it'll be great.

okay, so yes, I'd be down with the most awkward of familial ties. I want him to be a weird, and maybe eventually terrible (as he regains his memories?), influence. But definitely the weird uncle title seems to suit him very well.

And he can give her advice about all the clearly important decisions in her life. And the advice of your cool uncle always beats the advice of stuffy parents and/or grandparents.

But UNTIL THEN please be his cool niece that he kind of dotes on a little. And share all the gossip with him so he can make vaguely snide remarks about everything.

In related news, did you have any thoughts on what kind of business the family is in? Did they make it big in the stock market or strike oil or do they own hotels or department stores?

I've been leaning towards more politics, especially since that will help with incorporating the P4 boys' backstory. However, that's just the one sibling in the family? There's nothing to say that the rest of them/their parents can't have made their money through other means; maybe business-savvy, like stock market exchanges, etc.
I'm open to different ideas if you have a preference!

- Both her mother's family and her father's family are extremely concerned with things like tradition and appearances.
- From an early age she was constantly getting lectures on 'appropriate' behavior for a 'young lady.'
-This meant a childhood filled with things like piano lessons (which she hated), ballet (which was okay), and being dragged around to various parties wearing dresses she didn't care for(her mother was fond of frilly princess dresses for her little girl).
-When she was ten she asked if she could quit piano and ballet and take judo. But mom didn't think that was 'appropriate.' Dad suggested horse back riding instead.
-A pony is pretty good bribe for a ten year old, so Iris agreed.
-Her dad tends to solve all of his daughter's complaints by buying her something. In his defense, it often works. (Money is the best substitute for actual parenting.)
-In short, her mother is always trying to control her life and her father isn't paying her much attention.
- What this has all led up to is that Iris is going through a 'rebellious phase.' Often she disagrees with her mother simply because she can. And everything her parents tell her not to do quickly winds up on her to do list.

Several points involving other players, which were discussed on the workshop-
- Iris has also been told in no uncertain terms that she is not to associate with her uncle Ardyn. So of course she does. Not just because it ticks off her mom, but because he's actually the coolest adult she knows. And she's entirely more apt to take his advice on a problem than that of parents or teachers.
- Two of her cousins, children of her mother's other brother, have just moved back into town. Iris hasn't seen them in years, but they chat online sometimes. She's looking forward to hanging out and showing them around.

I've done everything EXCEPT Ardyn's AU history, but it will mostly consist of "doesn't get along with rich family, with the exception of nephews and niece" in regards to things that will actually pertain to Iris, so I don't really see anything contradictory at all in what I had in mind for him :>

I just realized that it might be more helpful for me to link you my app since I'm editing it directly IN DW when I get the chance. I'm currently slapping down AU history stuff (and don't laugh the whole thing is kind of a mess right now) so feel free to peek at it whenever you like, and if you see anything that might contradict your own AU, don't hesitate to mention it.
