CHARACTER: Johan Liebert
CANON: Monster
BLURB:

➥ Johan emigrated from Germany a couple of years back, ostensibly to start medical school.
➥ He is well-to-do--again, the money ostensibly comes from his parents' will, as they tragically died in an unsolved home invasion/double homicide that occurred when he and his twin sister were children
➥ His sister has also emigrated to Recolle, but the two of them are estranged and don't talk much at all; however, he speaks very highly of her to third parties
➥ Johan himself is friendly and charismatic, but difficult to get close to, in part because he's very close-mouthed about his personal life. He's deeply focused on his career and his hobbies (see below) and is either honestly or willfully oblivious to his own charisma. As such, it's easy to tell him about yourself, but hard to get information about him in return.
➥ Still, he has a wide circle of "friends," especially people who he's met through medical school and his extracurricular activities
➥ He's a highly self-critical overachiever when it comes to school. He's been known to say that he was inspired to go to medical school by a beloved foster parent who was a doctor, although the specific details of this connection are rarely if ever heard.
➥ He also spends a lot of time engaging in a number of hobbies. He's particularly active in the postmodernist theater community, but he's also deeply invested in a small religio-nihilist literature and philosophy group he leads, which meets for discussion once or twice a month. The group often discusses fun concepts such as chaos and the nature of society's end.
➥ Despite being soft-spoken and apparently quite gentle, Johan has the propensity for weirdness. He's been spotted a few times in really shady parts of Recolle, dealing with known criminals who nevertheless appear to treat him with either caution or deference or both--but none of these sightings have been corroborated, so for the most part Johan's potential involvement in criminal enterprise has been dismissed as plain old rumor.

LOOKING FOR: Friends, rivals, acquaintances, former . . . romantic partners, whatever the hell that might look like. Anything, really! It's been ages since I was in a memloss game but I'm very excited.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: I'm pretty set on Johan but I was also vaguely considering Enrico Pucci from JJBA so??? Do your worst I guess.

Okay, so, grabby hands at Johan in general.

Ardyn moves in different academic circles, but the academia thread is still there (as a professor of law) to draw a connection, if you're interested. Barring that, he also comes from a well-to-do family (though he doesn't keep in touch with them much any more.)

If none of that works, maybe they've simply just run into each other before, and know each other via acquaintance alone?

i think johan would probably do his best to dip his toes into all different kinds of academia! keep his finger on the pulse of things, so to speak. so i think it's definitely plausible he could have gone to one of ardyn's lectures and struck up a conversation afterwards? he's very clever and engaging when he wants to be so. sticks leggy out, intellectually.

yes! let's do the thing. i'm all on board for the intellectual exchanges, and also the unravelling (growth???) of CR when regains happen and villainous tendencies return!

I'm not sure how Ainsley and Johan will meet but I'm interested in CR between the two of them!

The best thing that comes to mind are their interests. Maybe she attends his literature/philosophy group after she learned about it when it was first starting? Went to the early meetings and while it isn't her cup of tea it intrigued her all the same for some reason. So she keeps coming back to discuss the subjects with them and naturally finds Johan very charming and friendly.

She's probably/definitely one of the people who defends him if she hears about the rumours. That's very rude and serious thing to accuse someone of after all.

i think that would be really cool actually, to have someone at the discussion group who didn't really agree with most people! johan would definitely be very courteous to her and make sure she had the floor even if other people (and he himself) mostly didn't agree with her, because fostering open discussion etc etc etc.

That's lovely to hear! She would have been nervous at first when making her opinions known but been relieved and happy to see it was taken well by most people. Definitely would have a good impression of him from that alone and attended his meetings semi-regularly to discuss things with others/get to know the others in the group better.

Johan sounds like amazing fun, and one thing in particular twigged my interest:

Sullivan here's basically the architect of the collapse of an age in his canon, and would probably have similar aims in-game; climbing the political ladder to carefully, gently, shake things down. He's interpersonally charming and worldly, but.... also has a strong undercurrent of weird.

I WOULD SUPER LOVE THAT ACTUALLY, in canon johan also . . . yeah, same deal, collapse, last man standing at the end of suchlike, so yes i think this would be amazing cr! johan would be very curious about him because like - that weirdness resonates ya feel. he's weird af too. just on the downlow.

Togusa here is just a beat cop, but also very philosophical, himself. I have no idea what he'd make of Johan, I'm giggling just thinking about it, though.

it sounds like it'd be super interesting! johan's canonical . . . "enemy" for lack of a better word is a very morally sound doctor who sometimes falls into that kind of beat cop trope slot? so it could either go really great and peacefully or they could hate each other, lol

~~But is Tenma actually his enemy, or is he Johan's best friend?~~ Yeah, there are some parallels between Togusa and Tenma, for sure.

Okay so consider me pinged by the criminal enterprise bit here! Riku's a rich-kid asshole who tends to get his kicks by doing shit he maybe shouldn't--when he was younger he got into a little bit of trouble with the cops for transportation of stolen goods but the whole deal was swept under the rug. Depending, maybe the two of them could know each other through something along the lines of illegality...?

Hello! If you'd like an acquaintance for Johan, I see that he's at medical school—Kirei here is likely going to be a pediatric surgeon in his AU. If you'd like them to have some kind of connection through Johan's med school training. I'd love for him to know more people in the medical field.

Kirei is slightly weird, too. Also, I just love Johan.
