• Born and raised in Recollé • Messy parental situation; parents eventually divorced • Became something of a delinquent for most of his middle school + early high school life—nothing serious, but got into fights, occasionally received minor misdemeanours, had a bad reputation at school, etc. • Also the sort to beat up bullies at school. Probably got suspended at least once for, like, breaking someone's arm for something • Would still do things like give change to the needy or look out for stray animals, though • When he was ~15, he and his mother learned that his father had been arrested, having gotten into a fight and accidentally killed someone • This served as a wake-up call for Brett, who decided to turn over a new leaf and clean up his act • The mess with his dad isn't a secret (even if he doesn't shout it from the rooftops) and is known around school, which hasn't helped Brett's reputation any as ~the son of a killer~, but whatever, he doesn't care • Aspiring to get into law enforcement once he's finished with high school. In the meantime, he works at A Good Bean to help keep himself afloat and does volunteer work (most prominently at the animal shelter) as he figures it'll look good on his record • HE'S NOT GREAT AT CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT HE TRIES... • If that fails, his backup plan is to save up for university and get into something related to astronomy/space/etc. • While he doesn't always have as much time for school as he'd like, he's a good student now and works hard to compensate for how much he slacked off/skipped in middle school during his punk years • Moved out and now lives in Emerald Ridge, somewhat estranged from his mom.
