MARCH 2019 AU WORKSHOP
|
AU WORKSHOP - MARCH Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. Additionally, you can find our game-wide App This Please over here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World Changes FAQ Game Calendar Plot Finds (ooc knowledge) • Reserves open on March 17th at 9pm EST! Please note; due to player polls, players may now apply for characters without a reservation. Applications open on March 24th at 12am EST. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 15 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! As a note, we will update the application page with a space for current players to link their full AC for our review should a player wish to apply without a reserve. • Most importantly, as a friendly note: Recollé will be going into its endgame this year. As such this is the last application cycle of 2019. FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU AGE: Again, if there's an age change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU OCCUPATION: Feel free to list if your character is a student (elementary/middle/high school/college), if they own their own business, if they freelance, if they have a stable job, etc. BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; you can list your character's hobbies, who their friends and family are, if they have any particular quirks or interesting pieces of their history, if they're from a wealthy family or if they're struggling to get by, anything you feel is relevant. LOOKING FOR: Are you looking for family members or friends or enemies for your character to be pre-planned? Or are you asking for ideas or feedback on your AU idea? Anything goes, just specify what you would like. OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Are you torn between which character to app? Let us help! Post your ideas in a comment and let fellow players offer feedback and CR ideas. You can also use this section to ask for canonmates you would like to see in-game whether it be in your specific AU or for different CR. |

CHARACTER: Asuna Yuuki
CANON: Sword Art Online
AU NAME: Asami Yuuki/Erika Yui(stage name)
AU AGE: 19
AU OCCUPATION: Actress on the hit live action kids show Fae Force Five
BLURB:
> Asuna was born in Japan, where her father was an executive at an electronics firm and her mother was a teacher. They moved to the United States as the result of a promotion when she was four.
> A fateful trip to the mall when she was six led to her mother guiding her into an acting career. She did commercials and guest spots on a few television shows to start her career.
> She landed the role of Jasperlynn Jadewing on the TV show Fae Force Five(imagine Power Rangers with fairies instead of giant robots). The show was an unexpected hit and she's been playing the character for three years now.
> Jasperlynn is the polar opposite of Asuna's normal personality, as she's the bookish, shy member of the team. Asuna tends to be more self assertive. It's one of many reasons she's not crazy about the show.
> She's come to Recollé in part to try and get a stage acting role, to try and become more of a "serious" actress. She's also eager to get away from her controlling parents. So... she's probably also doing some pretty dark work as a form of rebellion.
> She has one more year on her show contract, and even though it's on hiatus she's also expected to make a few personal appearances.
> Secretly, Asuna is a huge gamer and loves creating different characters for the games she plays online. She's actually a huge fan of watching everything Vivarium posts though she's too intimidated to even talk to the guild.
> Asuna has been so focused on her work and building her career that she doesn't have very many close friends, and she's totally on her own when she first arrives in Recollé.
> Having grown up in a wealthy family and having experienced a lot of professional success, she can come off as spoiled and even a little bratty at times. It masks a deep insecurity that people won't like the "real" Asuna.
> She has her own small studio apartment. It's not that great, and Asuna is romanticizing this as "paying her dues".
> Part of her job involved learning stage combat, and that's turned into a love for fencing and martial arts. She'll deny it to the ends of the earth, but you might see her with her face hidden under a hoodie at local pro wrestling matches too.
> There's a rumor that Asuna is dating Ken Kirigaya, one of her costars. It's not true, and it drives her crazy that a lot of fans on social media ship them on screen and off. The fact that her mother likes the idea only makes it more frustrating.
> Asuna loves animals and is a soft touch for rescuing animals, and she probably will get a pet of her own fairly quickly, if she doesn't already have one.
> Asuna has a pretty good singing voice, though she's not all that confident in it and is terrified at the thought of trying out for a musical.
LOOKING FOR:
> Anyone involved with the theater she's acting at. This would probably be her lifeline at first. It doesn't have to be actors, either! Technical crew, theater staff, anyone who might want to give her a hand.
> Gaming buddies, though she'd probably be using a different name and it wouldn't be obvious that she's "the girl from the fairy show" to any of them.
> Neighbors, either in her building or people she runs into throughout the neighborhood.
> Awkward fan interactions would be incredible. The show has a pretty passionate fan base. And yes, there are shipping wars, so this could get as awkward as you like.
> Negative CR could be fun as well. She's a little stuck up and not used to living on her own, so she might rub some people the wrong way.
> Above all else, she needs friends to show her there's more to life than her career. She needs to have some fun!
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME:
This is all still very much "draft 0" of her AU, so if you can think of some awkward ideas then I'd love to hear them!

...Asuna will be a lot nicer online than she is IRL, too.
no subject
"Tries" being the key word since she has trust issues, ahaha.
Although she's definitely friendly online for the most part and a bit of a shitposter unless she's doing a 'villain' role, which is rare! She doesn't bring up RL at all online though, so there's that too.
no subject
Asuna will probably be a lot more accommodating online. In canon she becomes a healer just because no one else in her group wanted to play one, and I think she'd fall into a similar pattern in the AU.
Also? I'm seeing so much potential already for dual identity shenanigans and I love it.
no subject
AND YES please give me shenanigans. . .
no subject
Oh, there will be shenanigans. Perhaps even goings on as well! They'll have to have an awkward meeting IRL... then maybe vent about it online to each other, not realizing who the other is talking about.
no subject
I'd definitely like an awkward meeting IRL for sure; she might not talk too much about it online (since she doesn't like talking about RL online) but if Asuna wants to vent, Raina is here for it, although it's possible she might clue in since she's an analyst + taking psychology classes ahaha.

i would be really interested in seeing how cr between asuna and kokichi would go! because kokichi can be... a jerk and can be really difficult to deal with, laughs. he's a pathological liar and can get on people's nerves so asuna might not enjoy interacting with him irl so it might be an interesting contrast between their irl selves maybe not getting along while they might be fine online (though if he finds out that she's a fan before he meets her irl, he might change up how he would act around irl, laughs)
no subject
But I am all for the dual identity contrasts and seeing just how badly they can annoy each other!
no subject
i think it'd be kind of hilarious if they get along online but terribly offline. then one day, they discover each other's online/rl identity and it's like wait you were that asshole/decent person??

no subject
i also think it'd be hilarious if asami gets along with yuuki then finds out later that kokichi is her brother by, like, idk going to their apt and seeing him there or seeing the two interact in a positive way. it can be like oh no... my nice cast are has a jerk for a brother
no subject
Oh gosh, that would be great... especially if she's got a distinct impression that her brother is this really great guy, walks in... "You! What are YOU doing here??"
no subject
and LAUGHS god i love that. yuuki is literally the only person who thinks her brother isn't a jerk so i'm sure some incorrect impressions can be made. asami can just come in and find kokichi in his super casual clothes, chilling on the couch with some video game, and he just yells back: "hey, yukki!! you brought home a wet blanket! what gives!"
no subject
Given some of the stuff we were discussing on Plurk, I really can't wait to see where that goes. Depending on how things turn out with Yuuki, I can also see her really gritting her teeth and not trying to push back so much out of respect for her feelings. Hopefully that doesn't paint too big a target on her back.
