FEBRUARY TDM
FEBRUARY TEST DRIVE The city of Recollé. What a beautiful, wonderful place. Sure, some things seem a little off sometimes but it's still home. The weather's starting to clear up as little signs of spring appear. What will you do today? I. Spring is in the air and today residents of the city can be found in all districts clearing out the rest of the winter gloom. Snow shovels are replaced for garden trowels as people begin planting flowers, trees, and vegetables. Some residents are in Hollingberry Field over in Viea Village cleaning up stray litter and debris to make the park enjoyable for all. Will you volunteer to help? Are you willing to get your hands dirty, or are you just annoyed that you can't go anywhere without having to side-step a puddle of mud? II. It starts innocently enough. You wake up in the morning, walk into your bathroom to brush your teeth and one of your lightbulbs burn out. That's not unusual. You make a note to buy more lightbulbs next time you head to Freshens. What is unusual is that the rest of the city seems to be experiencing similar problems. One of the theatres at Flix can't seem to get their projector to work and several customers are clamouring to get their ticket refunded. The elevator at the Towers stops working halfway up between floors. Neon signs on some of the shops in Tisse flicker and pop until some of the letters fade. The computers at the Recollé Public Library and Resource Center crash making it impossible to do school work. It's not just outside either. Appliances start acting up. Your phone might ring with a ringtone that isn't your own, but no one else is on the other line. What's causing all of this? It might be worth investigating. III. You realize that it might be wise to check Retrospec to see if any of your fellow residents are posting about similar experiences. You reach for your device, (or perhaps you've managed to wrestle one of the library's computers to work with you) and open the application only to be met with a blast of music. Shutting the app doesn't help. Every time the app is opened, a new song will begin playing on its own. The song changes each time, but they all seem to center on the same theme. The only way to stop the issue is to let the song play all the way through. Good thing you weren't sneaking in some social media time during class or work…were you? Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who escaped having the app automatically downloaded to your mobile devices or appear for you at inconvenient intervals. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore and the next wave of Retrospec users are chosen. New users will hear a very different song as their greeting when the app begins to download, prompting them to notice their profile filled out with their name and upload a picture. The song will autoloop until new users oblige to these steps. Now wouldn't be a bad time to ask fellow users some questions. IV. Billboards, bus stops, and posters make up many of the colorful landmarks in Chata and Tisse. These signs all have a purpose whether it's to advertise new movies at Flix, a special sale at Towers, or a hot new band that will be playing at the Atrium. Too bad things seem to be getting out of hand here, too. What do you mean the sign told you everything must go from the furniture department? Nobody said anything about half-priced movies with all you can eat popcorn! All throughout the city advertisements pop up displaying false claims. Are you one of the residents trying to cash in on these ads? Or maybe you're an employee who has to clean up this mess. Yikes. BONUS. The subway system in Recollé has been down for quite some time now due to construction. It doesn't make travelling through the city impossible, but it does make several people unhappy (including Mayor Mayer.) The non-functional subway has become a part of every day life, but when you pass by over the next few days, you can almost hear the sound of a subway car speeding along the tracks. Any inquiries will be met with disdain, and any attempts to head into the subway station to check things out will be met with construction workers telling residents to scram. It seems that this area is blocked off for now, but that doesn't mean residents can't investigate. Welcome to the ![]() The February 2017 TDM directory can be found here. Nagi 'Kuzunoha' | SMT: Devil Summoner 2
[Honestly this is more a project to help get Nagi out there and over what shyness she does have with interacting with others. She's learning a lot as well though, chiefly about the different types of flowers.
Currently she's helping plant Astible flowers. Or rather she's taken a moment to peep at her phone, the glove she had been wearing on that hand tucked under her arm.]
Astible flowers mean "I'll still be waiting."
[Her smile brightens considerably with that. She speaks as she tucks her phone into her pocket:]
It's amazing that there are so many different meanings.
[She goes to slide her glove back on now, her thoughts so focused on flower name meanings that she forgets in the next moment. An absentminded attempt to brush her bangs to one side leads to a nice smear of dirt across her forehead.]
Perhaps in theory it has to do with them being perennials.
[ III ]
[It's some time between the end of classes for the day and the start of Nagi's job. There's little sense in going all the way home and so the library has become her place of retreat for some time now.
She's tucked herself into one of the reading corners away from most of the library crowd, everything quiet aside from the faint distant murmur of voices and movement elsewhere in the building. It's when she turns her phone on that the Retrospec app icon catches her attention. She hadn't opened it in a while honestly but now seemed as good a time as any to browse around on it. Maybe she could update her profile now?
She's barely tapped on the app before her phone starts blaring out a thumping beat. It's enough of a surprise in the otherwise quiet of the library that Nagi jumps, gripping onto her phone. She manages to hit the power button before Adele can much more than get out a "She ain't gonna love you like I will" and everything goes quiet again.
The young woman sits with her heart pounding in her chest, first wide-eyed at her phone and then wide-eyed at the area around her. No one had heart that... right?]
[ WILDCARD ]
[Feel free to run with any idea you may have. PM if you have any questions.]

[The voice came from one of the other young workers that had been planting flowers. Based on the way that she was working with the ground and carrying the plants, she seemed to have known what she was doing. Given that she was here from Mikoto's florist shop, she'd better.
As she got down onto her knees and started gouging out the next batch of dirt for one of them, she smiled over at Nagi quietly and shrugged. Her voice had a light french accent to it when she spoke.]
I am not sure that it is that they are long-lived, though it does not hurt. The choice of meaning changes from time to time, so it is not always clear why they choose the meanings they do, no?
no subject
Does it? I thought the meanings were constant.
[She looks over the flower in thought and then brings it forward once the other woman has done her part. Nagi settles it into the soil, a hum rising as she apparently reaches the end of that thought of hers.]
I guess the meanings are a lot more mysterious then I thought if that's the case.
no subject
[She started to get the trough ready for Nagi to put the plant down before stepping back and nodding to it. She gave a wistful sigh before starting on the next one right afterwards.]
The colors and meanings of roses haven't changed any time I can recall. It's some of the others that seem to shift. I think part is because now everyone has access to new flowers? Though, it's fairly static in japan. They never change there, except to add new flowers.
no subject
Ah, you mean from country to country?
[She hadn't thought of it like that. Now there's something of an itch to reach for her phone again that she substitutes instead with reaching for the next flower.]
Some of them have made very long trips then!
[... Ah, well, not as flowers but as seeds but still.]
no subject
Wouldn't want something to grow too much would we?
[Chloe, meanwhile, kept one step ahead of her with the digging while she was putting in the planting. If one of them was a little crooked, she'd reach over to help Nagi with it, but was otherwise all too happy to get the holes ready for her.]
So, you like flowers, I take it?
no subject
... Not really? In theory I don't hate them but I've never kept a garden or anything like that. My grandfather enjoyed them but he never really kept much of a garden either.
[She pauses with her apology, then seems to remember she ought to be actually working here and snaps back into it by dropping in the next flower. She covers it up as well as she continues.]
This seemed like a good way to help others though. And I'm learning something too so that's nice.

[She chuckled while she watched Nagi work, keeping her pace appropriate for the little assembly line they had going. This really was perfect for their needs. Two people made this job so much easier.]</small. It will improve everyone's mood, come spring. That's never a bad thing.

Micah doesn't really make small-talk, no matter how close he comes to working next to somebody. With his bare hands covered in all manner of dirt down to his nail beds, it's clear he's been at this a while. But the statement draws his gaze over, first to the girl, then the flowers in question. ]
I didn't really know about that. Do all of the flowers have meanings?
no subject
[It seems like she likes the idea, at least by how bright she is when she speaks about it. She settles the Astible into it's new home, talking away as she does so. He may have been quiet with everyone up to this point but it's nice to just be out among people and talking at them at times. Without her grandfather around, the little home they had shared is far too quiet now for her liking.
She scoots on her knees for another plant.]
Even different colors in one kind can have a meaning, at least according to what I've read online. Roses stand for love but a yellow rose is supposed to symbolize true love and joy. And a white one stands for innocence.
no subject
Even the colors. I wonder who got to decide. No one really uses a language like that nowadays, right?
[ At least not that he's seen.
Retracting his hands, he pushes to a stand and circles her to pick up a colorful cluster of hydrangeas. When he kneels again, it's closer to her this time, side by side. A nonverbal cue that he doesn't mind the conversation. ]
