That is pretty much Tatsuo's general idea. Is it actually possible to make their current situation worse? Probably yes, but they won't know until they try.

Using another pillar for cover for himself, Tatsuo fires right-handed at one of the windows, twice. But instead of shattering the window, or going through it, the bullets ricochet, bouncing off the surface and zipping back into the room.

And then... nothing. No sound of the bullets striking another surface or falling to the floor.

"Shit, did you see where they went?"
