AU WORKSHOP - SEPTEMBER Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. IMPORTANT INFORMATION World Changes FAQ Game Calendar Plot Finds (ooc knowledge) • Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM. • For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC! FORM PLAYER'S NAME: CHARACTER'S NAME: CANON: AU NAME: If there's a name change at all! If there isn't, you're free to put n/a AU AGE: Again, if there's an age change at all! AU NAME: Rei Hino
AU AGE: Early/Mid 20s
AU OCCUPATION: Diplomat/Translator
BLURB:
Timeline is as follows:
-Born in Japan, Daughter of a Diplomatic Envoy to the USA and a priestess.
-Has a younger brother named Hiro.
-Moved back and forth as a kid between America and Japan.
-Traveled with her parents all over the world.
-Attended and Graduated from University early, and moved back to Recolle to work at the Japanese Embassy. She's a Junior Diplomat that acts primarily as a translator, a position gained by her family connections. Hiro came with her and she acts as his guardian so he could get experience with her.
-Has been in Recolle for a couple of years
-Audits language courses at Recolle University.
-Occasionally involves herself as an organizer for volunteer activities for the Japanese community in Recolle.
-Is comfortably well off thanks to her job, not wealthy but not poor.
-Attends church (The denomination I'm not sure about yet, but churchgoing CR would be cool)
General other notes:
-Less cold and closed off than canon
-Does not have birds.
-Likes technology a lot more because it makes her life easier.
-Is generally a good girl, but probably has gotten involved in things like clubbing or visiting bars/cabarets/etc and tried to keep that quiet for her image. She wants to enjoy life and her family's position makes that hard.
LOOKING FOR:
-Friends! Rei's a nice girl and so she could definitely use pals.
-Churchgoing CR. Let's talk about this, so I can figure out what kind of church she attends.
-People who would know her from language courses or her Japanese community volunteering.
-People she's helped immigrate or dealt with at the embassy or w/e.
-People who recognize her from her times having fun so she can flip out about keepign it quiet.

It's possible they may have run into one another during his time helping Tsukasa at his shrine or at the tanabata festival? Given he was like-- the one Chinese kid working there and he didn't want to bother Tsukasa with all of his questions, maybe she assisted him on the cultural things he was unfamiliar with...? IDK

And even if they don't really have much in pre-established CR, she could most definitely get ofuda regains from seeing his abilities too, and that could be something they could connect over? Or just sensing Weird Shit out of nowhere because magic and spirits interlap a lot in CLAMP canon, sobs

ALTERNATIVELY (or additionally) there's also May, a person who was orphaned by her Japanese immigrant parents and has had a lot of struggle in embracing her own culture and adapting to it, but still hangs out at the cultural center AND as of the recent re-au shenanigans had traveled to Japan to ply her craft as a pro-wrestler, performing for World Wonder Ring Stardom in Japan before coming back to work for the local indie promotion. She and Rei are probably about the same age and may have crossed paths.

Hi! I play Ava, she is a rising star tennis player who is trying to become an international star, she is in her university studying business against her will because her parents are basically blackmailing and manipulating her entirely, but she made a bet with them to finally be set free (which is undecided if they'll keep their end of the bargain), so she parties to blow off some steam. Maybe, just maybe, they somehow crossed paths in one of the "influential parties" her parents would make when they were younger, they have an idea on each other's existence but doesn't go anywhere, but end up crossing paths in Recolle's nightlife and they recognize each other. Ava can now legally drink, but before she Feb she couldn't so she got Rei to buy her drinks and have been sorta blackmailing each other sense???
Idk if any of this makes sense, but it could be fun to have them be friends and Rei can get the load down on Retrospect and settle in more quickly because Ava has been around for a while????

The rest of this I think could work really well though. Knowing one another from a party and pushing one another towards church and parties would work out. She'd just have to find a different source of booze.

All the same I am open to the idea of them knowing each other and having a mutual understanding of the reason they need to blow off some steam while keeping their images intact. I think Ava needs someone like that in her life right now because not many people know of her home situation except her half-brother who is in the game. I like to think Rei has an idea of what is going on and hence why she is trying to help her keep a clean public image while Ava wants to keep Rei's parents from not suspecting what Rei likes to do behind the scenes.
This idea sounds a lot better than the first one, now that I'm rereading it.

I kind of want to get cr somehow. Maybe through the Japanese community volunteering or something? Or through Hiro. He's not that much older than Sakura is at least. So that could also be kind of a possibility. Though I would giggle if Sakura did know something she wasn't supposed to and unintentionally mentions it later to Rei after seeing her out somewhere going into a club or something when Sakura is on her way home from the movies or whatever.
