The undeniable appeal of drama and a love triangle that might actually be decently written? (The bar for "entertaining instead of eye-roll-inducing love triangle" is set pretty low let's be honest.)

It is a low bar, but I feel like what makes this great and not groan inducing - everyone is great individually so it's not the drama itself fueling the thing

Yes, it's not drama simply for the sake of drama. It's a group of confused characters with feelings and personal issues that happen to clash. lol

You know once they get into the conversation about Mari's worries it's going to open up a can of worms and he's going to be investing himself in taking some sort of responsibility for her pain. Which I'm sure won't help if she still has feelings for him while he is head over heels for someone else.

And her trying to temper her not okay jealousy/possessiveness because right/wrong/indifferent - Matt is One Of Hers and Foggy has to pass certain assessments, even if she doesn't realize she's doing it.

Also she's super not over him so...

On one hand, Mari no! On the other hand... Damn it's tragic to think she might get her hopes up that his kindness means he still loves her that way. Then there's the kicker that only oh so long ago he wasn't over her and was only starting to trust Foggy enough to let him in. When she finds out he and Foggy have memories of each other from the other life she'll have yet another reason to hate Retrospec. ahaha

That's not even counting her impending discovery of the vigilante's identity. lmao

She ultimately knows that ship has sailed, no matter how much she wishes it hadn't - but now it's just navigating still caring about her ex, genuinely liking his new love and hating everything about the situation, especially the fact that she can't let go enough to not feel some type of way.

Another kicker that just crossed my mind is that Mari must have heard the story of how Matt figured out he was bi when he was young when he came out to her. As far as she knows he's still in the closet (technically he is, just not to as many people as before), so if he tells her he's seeing someone (if she gives him a reason to tell her) it will likely seem like it's another woman. How wild would it be to find out that this friendly guy you recently met is the one from the story your ex once told you about falling for a sweet boy at summer camp? I can just imagine the Kill Bill sirens going off in her head when Foggy's telling the story of his first love for the millionth time and ends it with how he met him again and they're together.

lmao I love how Foggy is too damn charming for people close to Matt to totally hate him. We thought Tatsuo was going to be the super protective best friend but instead, he almost immediately shipped it and played a big role getting Matt to cut himself some slack and just go for it. He was basically the Now Kiss! meme.
