[She can't watch this anymore. One would think that doing something like holding onto balloons would be an easy enough task, right? But unfortunately for this poor soul it looks like that's gotten away from them. Like the whole bundle of balloons trying to drift up and away into the sky right now, only to be daunted by snagging on a clothesline high up above of all things. Several minutes of watching the panicky aftermath and she heaved a sigh, made her way over and set her backpack down.]

Make sure nobody takes that, okay?

[And with that simple request she backs up several steps then takes a running start, scrambling up the side of the wall high enough to snag on the first handhold. Pulling herself up, she grabs onto the next and just like that she's scrambling up the side of a wall toward the snagged balloons.

How does she get wrapped up in this stuff?]

[With that last request, she backs up]

Wild?
Oops. Sorry.

[The apology is brushed off with a curt grunt as the older man she'd bumped into carries on his way. Barely even paying attention to the tiny girl in the oversized black hoodie who had bumped him and then scurried off. He probably wouldn't think of her again for awhile either, not for at least a few minutes which was all the time she needed. Founder's Day was a good time for people like her. Everybody's too busy looking up to keep an eye on their wallets.

She's gone a safe enough distance before she quickly pockets any cash in there and ditches the wallet in a handy trash bin before she makes her way to the spot. There, she takes up a spot underneath a tree and keeps an anxious eye out, sharp eyes flickering this way and that as she watches the crowds and waits for somebody to approach her.]

Shit. Come on, hurry it up.

[Founder's Day or not, busy or not, there's still no time to be comfortable with a bag of whatever kind of illegal substance the buyer's after in her backpack. Money's money but the last thing she needs with her juvenile record is getting caught running drugs. Or pickpocketing for that matter.]

BONUS
[It's another winter. Winter is never a good time of year for her and even if this one isn't the harshest she's ever made her way through, it still isn't a walk in the park either. Actually a walk in the park would be pretty nice. Sleeping in the park would be too... maybe when spring comes around again.

For now, she'll take what she can get.

Vanessa doesn't exchange any words with the girl behind the counter as she dumps her handful of small change on the counter in exchange for the cup of steaming coffee. Though she does make sullen eye contact when the stranger gives her a look over in her frayed hoodie and jeans, and beaten up sneakers despite the snow on the ground. Whatever passes between them it isn't an invitation for conversation as there's none of that when Vanessa takes the cup and makes her way to a table against the far wall. Her worn old backpack she dumps on the floor beside her chair and pulls off her chewed up wool gloves to warm her hands on the hot cup. When her phone buzzes she gives a little sigh before pulling the cheap, disposable little flip thing out of her pocket and looking at it. Probably another run... it sucks if it is, given how fast the temperature is going down outside but she can't afford to turn down even the meager bit of cash she can get from-]

What the hell? [She frowns a bit, narrowing her eyes at the screen and giving the phone a little shake. Retrospec.]

Whatever. [She drops the phone to the table with a clatter and moves to sip from her coffee.] Just as long as nobody expects me to pay for it.
