I didn’t specify it, but I’ve imagined AU Varian to be of Irish descent. (The surname I’ve given him comes from an Irish alchemist.) He’s into that history, albeit not as much as he’s into science. Still, if Varian is able to find out about Dwyer’s similar interests, that could be a springboard for future CR?

And... I’m not sure if Varian’s father was Irish, but his mother was, and if Dwyer’s mother is of Irish descent in addition to Dwyer’s father, we could find a way to connect the families maybe? I’ve been toying with the idea of keeping Varian’s mom alive, anyway, because... Lots of orphans, heh.
