Daisuke seems to think he's a pretty cool guy. He gives off an aura of confidence that he only wishes he could have one day and can do cool stuff like controlling floating swords. That's fucking sweet compared to his odd reflexes. He doesn't really like using it when he can because it reminds him that he was using it FOR CRIME. Daisuke also kinda knows his way around Leon's type of person, which is basically subtly inflating their egos. He doesn't do it out of malicious intent, but it's nice to see that confidence actually go somewhere. He's a bit jealous about it, but he knows that he needs to strive to boost his own.
Also, I'm assuming that Leon really did pay them hush money about getting held hostage by a deep-voiced rabbit. Daisuke wouldn't have expected that, but it doesn't really make Leon seem less of a person to him. In fact, the act of doing so was actually... kinda funny. Not that he'd say it out loud, but going as far as paying them to keep a secret he was already going to keep is a little hilarious and it helps Daisuke see Leon as less of a role model-esque person and more like a person that he wants to befriend someday--because being a dork about stuff makes it really easy to humanize someone.
