He may not show it, but deep down inside of his heart, Leon doesn't hate Clover. Though he might be annoyed at her reactions and her nagging, he doesn't dislike her by any means. Before they started dating, there was a lot of things that attracted him to her. Her strong personality being one of the huge factors and the mature, model student aura that surrounds her. The last girl he dated was a bit immature so to him, Clover felt refreshing to be around and truthfully, despite their arguments, he did make some good memories with her before everything went downhill.

I think part of the reason why it didn't work out with him was because he felt like he was walking around eggshells with her?! It's something he's not too keen on and in a way, he felt like he couldn't be true to himself and not as free. HOWEVER, she was also good for him in the sense that he should not act like ... himself and learn some restraint LMFAO. But Leon is and will always be immature, so in his eyes he doesn't think that he needs to be fixed when in actuality, he does.

So when the break up happened, it did effect him even if he tried not to show it. In reality, it kind of hurt to break up because during that time, he did grow attached to her but he also accepted that it was just simply not meant to be. The aftermath felt awkward with her and due to his frustrations, he finds himself being rude to her. Given the break up, he doesn't fully believe that she's concerned about him when asked and brushes her nagging off as being annoying or just to get under his skin. (Though that's probably not wrong, tbh??? HAHA)

Clover's not wrong in that he treats Mio better. However, a good chunk of the reason is because he's trying to be better with showing affection. He's aware that it's something he's always been bad at and that inside his heart, he believes it's the reason for his past break ups so he wants to change. However, he's an idiot that doesn't realize he's hurt Clover by doing that in front of her, so he needs to be told off. :')

If he had to be perfectly honest, he would like to mend things but he's not sure how. As of now, he doesn't think Clover wants anything to do with him so he feels it's best for him to keep his distance since he feels she could be happier if he wasn't around. He does hope that one day, she'll be able to find someone who can show her the love that she deserves and someone who can treat her better than he did.

Tbh I'd totally PSL their relationship before they broke up...
