Noah considers Souji a friend? Maybe...? Honestly, he's not at all sure. He DOES find Souji funny and he likes goofing around with him, even if it's not always obvious. Sometimes it's just fun to have someone around you can just spout stupid shit too. Even Noah gets that one.
On the other hand, he really did mean it when he said he had no idea most of the time if Souji is just joking around or not, and he didn't mean it in a good way. He's got the definite impression that when Souji jokes around so much, he's putting up walls to protect himself from other people - just like he does himself when he gets angry and cranky. He knows there's a lot more going on with Souji than just being a total shitposter, the bits and pieces he's heard from Yu has told him that much. He knows Souji is always surrounded by people, but sometimes Noah questions how many of them Souji would really call friends if the chips were down. He sure assumes that he wouldn't be among them.
But with Noah being Noah, he's not at all sure how to breach the walls-- or if he wants to. Noah isn't exactly the best when it comes to connecting with people, so he doubts he has anything to offer to Souji. He is glad to see that Souji is dating Tatsuma, since Tatsuma is a good guy. He just hopes there isn't a repeat of what happened last summer with the car and Yosuke (since yeah, Yu told him about that).
In other words, Noah likes Souji well enough, but has some Concerns.
