Atsushi is good!! Atsushi is cute, and a sweetheart, and a genuinely kind and loving person who does not love himself as much as Shuji deserves. Shuji wants to see him happy - the matchmaking stems from that - and he wants to see him safe, but most importantly, Shuji wants him to be able to love himself and see all of his own good qualities. If he sounds less than platonic, it's because he doesn't want to censor himself when he praises Atsushi for how amazing he is.
