As a child and truthfully, to this day Leon doesn't have very many close friends. He's always had a hard time making friends (FOR REASONS I WONDER WHY.... 8l ). At first, Leon thought of Kaede as competition. His goal is to be at the top of his class in terms of grades, so when he heard that Kaede did so well in high school and was granted a full scholarship because of her grades, he felt the need to challenge her and prove himself as being superior.
However, somewhere along the way... he ended up falling for her kindness HAHA. He tried to hard to be mean and rude but seeing how cheerful and sweet she was caused him to have second thoughts about his attitude towards her. It's her sweet nature that melted his heart and she is probably the first person that he easily changed his opinion on. She shined so brightly and the more he got to know her as a person, he started to see all her positive qualities and slowly became easily impressed with her.
He legitimately enjoys being around her and Kaede's presence not only makes him happy but she's been such a good influence in a positive way!! Around her, his outlook tends to be much more positive. She's the first person whom he's ever called 'friend' even if he does get kind of tsundere about the whole thing and is a little embarrassed to say it out loud. She's pretty important to him and if something were to happen to her, Leon would absolutely not hesitate to jump in and save her from danger. He would absolutely be pissed if something happened to her and would try to get revenge against whoever harmed her.
It's hard for him to express it because he's so bad at emotions but he really appreciates having Kaede as a friend. He hates that she got dragged into this application madness but he's relieved that they got stuck in this together. Having her around to talk about this stuff with has made it easier on him and he feels a sense of relief being around her. ONE DAY He will finally stop being lame and start calling her by her first name. She's one of his closest friends and he will always and forever look out for her and do whatever he can to help her in any way.
