a slight enigma but not the biggest mystery and not one she cares to put that much effort into solving?
she likes him against her better judgment probably because he is kind to her in his own way, nicer to her than she sees him be to some other people, so she can't bring herself to think too poorly of him? she also thinks that he has some similar qualities and personality traits (and deficits..... i'm sorry) to rose. he's not as angry and more of a shitposter, but he's wild like rose and doesn't like to show or admits he cares like rose even when.... it's obvious he's caring.
but also, he's really troublesome. it's hard not to hear about his antics and not get a headache except the event with the retrospec post he put up showed that he can get down to business and be capable, so there's that, too.
overall, baren's probably a good guy, and she's okay with thinking that. he's still a thot tho
i walked away to do something and remembered i should add this tidbit because envy is an intrinsic part of four's and clover's character: clover is envious of how effortlessly charismatic baren seems to be and how so many people still like him even when he's obviously being an asshole. she doesn't feel as much resentment or bitterness towards that as she would usually because of the shades of rose she sees in him, and the shades of rose is also what she figures is part of the reason why jasmine and he don't get along.
