We have a ton of wedding traditions. When picking a date for the wedding, it's common to talk to a fortune teller or a monk to make sure it's not an auspicious date. Both families get involved in the wedding planning really early on and we pick a 'Betrothal Day' a few months before the wedding, in the which the groom leaves presents for the bride's family. There's also a tradition in which the groom's family will pick a female relative to set the newly wed's bed at their home about two or three days before the wedding. No one is allowed to sleep or sit on it until after the wedding. Brides typically wear red for the wedding since it's the color symbolizing good luck in China.
[ And that's just the tip of it. There are a lot more traditions. ]
In Hong Kong, a lot of people tend to do more Western style weddings and there are some cases where they combine Chinese wedding traditions with Western ones.

But that's pretty interesting... most wedding ceremonies back in Japan depend on religion, although the general weddings back home are based off of Shinto traditions. There's the yuino which is similar to the tradition you talked about earlier, where the groom's family would send gifts to the bride's family through a third party mediator and then a member of the groom's family would visit the bride's family to make sure the engagement was accepted and then the bride's family would treat him to a feast. And brides even typically wear a white kimono for the ceremony and then the uchikake for the reception, which is a silk robe covered with embroidered flowers and cranes. Like... white means virtue and patience, which is why the kimonos are usually white, but the place would be decorated with red. And the brides would also wear a wataboshi, which is a white silk hood and it has over the bukin takashimada - which is a hair bun. And it basically represents modesty and humility.

Ahaha, but maybe I shouldn't be talking about that now, huh? It's probably a bit overwhelming, and it's still going to be really, really, far off.

All of the Japanese traditions are quite interesting too. It's a given since you look nice in anything but I already know that you're are going to look stunning in a white kimono and uchikake.
