Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here.

• Please note: you need a reserve to apply, so please plan accordingly! Reservation dates can also be found on the game calendar and coincide with the TDM.
• For current players who are interested in 2nd or 3rd characters, please review and follow our policy about AC! To reserve a 2nd character you must have a pass for the previous month's AC with your first character. For a 3rd character, you must have a pass for the previous two months' AC for both of your characters. In addition, we do ask that the AC for the current month be met and filled into your AC comment by the time of your reserve. It must be full AC. This means you must have 20 comments between at least 2 and at most 4 threads and one memory regain listed for the current month's AC period. Your reserve will not be accepted until you supply the requested AC!

BLURB:
History —

• Semira was born in Queens, New York City to her parents, who were Syrian immigrants.
• Shortly receiving her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, she married a relatively wealthy man twenty years her senior. They moved to Recolle due to the necessities of his job, and she enrolled in RU to pursue her Master’s.
• Two years after their move, the bubble of Semira’s lavish and easy-going lifestyle burst when her husband passed away in a car accident.
• Since she was not named in his will, Semira was left relatively penniless. Forced to move into an apartment with only the most basic amenities, she insisted on pursuing her passions and worked a series of part-time jobs to survive.
• Semira married another wealthy Recolle-native sometime after completing her masters and beginning her work at the Art Museum.
• Their marriage lasted about seven years and they had two children. The older is a girl that is now about 11, the younger is a boy who is 7. (I may or may not be fudging these numbers a bit)
• After suspecting that her husband was cheating on her, Semira hired a private detective to gather evidence. She divorced him, gained custody of their children.
• During all this, she worked steadily to become a museum curator at Recolle Art Museum. She still pursues art, which are usually lavish and decadent imagery of women and men. Sometimes there is a gothic flair, and many of the time, the content features a lot of nudity, sex and violence.

Personality —

• Remaining quite the socialite, Semira maintains an image of charm and sophistication. She is very enthusiastic about her passions, and tends to show a lot of interest in those of others.
• Nevertheless, an air of scandal tends to be associated with her, mostly due to her ambition that applies to all facets of her life.
• Much like her original counterpart, she maintains a steady interest in ~~her face~~ cosmetics, hairdressing, dancing, clothing, music, mythology and astronomy.
• Cares about her children very much, and has many Expectations for them. She is the kind of mother that expects straight A’s and heaps many extracurriculars in their direction.
• Is also involved in a lot of philanthropic ventures in Recolle.
• Also speaks Arabic and French fluently.

LOOKING FOR:
• Colleagues from the museum.
• Friends/acquaintances from her time Recolle.
• Babysitters and tutors for her children.
• Her children’s primary or middle school teachers. Tense parent-teacher conferences may be a given…

Would a piano teacher ~~even one who probably will sit her kids down and tell them that the world sucks~~ be wanted?

Absolutely! I'm not sure if Semira would know about those viewpoints, but she's not entirely against them... though, question is, should children really become jaded so young?

It's only to prepare them so they don't get hurt as adults. Ai is only looking out for their futures, after all.

Ha, Semira really wouldn't argue against that! She's a classic mom who wants her kids to avoid her mistakes, or any mistakes... even if the latter is unrealistic.

At least they won't get any romantic notions of the starving artist from her, at least.

Elda is somewhat older (41) but is also a wealthy woman albeit a single mother and thus they can have met at any number of functions and such over the years I desire this relationship.

Let's drink or party or something

I think it would make sense that they've known each other for quite some time. They'll drink and party together.

And, considering that Elda's been with Retrospec for quite sometime, she'll be the perfect person to give Semira the quick rundown and be done with it.

YES she can definitely do that. She literally wrote the guide on it (she's not the most informed per se but sure has been here a while) but

I've got a couple of possibilities. Karen (AU of Kara) is in her late 20s, and is a researcher, and while she's a bit younger she does have an interest in socializing and the arts. Mainly because she simply would not have had those opportunities as a kid, growing up in a rural area. Would potentially have struck up conversation at the museum at some open house or something. This could've led to a friendship over interests in art and astronomy, possible patronage/social mentoring if Semira is into that kind of thing, or limited tutoring arrangements?

Showing genuine interest in the arts is definitely a great way to get into Semira's good graces, and she wouldn't hold Karen's rural upbringing against her. Semira does generally clock a pretty busy schedule, but it'll be easy enough for Karen to check in during work and social events. If Karen's really enthused, she can probably tutor her on a weekly/bi-weekly basis!

That would be good. She's one of those small town sorts that really just wants to move past her roots, so interest is no problem. Her job isn't the most demanding at least. So she'd be free to make that work.

OKAY since Soleil here is Astolfo's big sister, Semi nets herself a bonus hyperactive pink haired niece who definitely thinks her aunt is extremely pretty and probably has tried to impress her since Soleil was, like, 12.

A niece for Semira to spoil! And possibly enlist for babysitting duties......

Oh, she'll absolutely love the admiration and attention.

She will fawn over her beautiful aunt, especially with her and Astin's parents being kind of perpetually absent.
