CHARACTER: Nepeta Leijon - here, however, her first name will be Nyah. That's pronounced Nia despite its adorably feline appearance. c;
CANON: Homestuck
BLURB: Her backstory is actually just lifted from the last time I played her in a reincarnation game, so if you'd like a more in-depth look feel free to check out her old app since there won't be too many tweaks.

• sixteen years old and a recent arrival to Recolle - her family's only been here maybe three or four months
• homeschooled, which is probably for the best because her ability to focus on anything she doesn't want to is atrocious
• only child of a Swedish photographer and a Navajo camera store employee who fell in love when he visited the southwest for some inspiration. they're disgustingly happy together and also disgustingly supportive of their daughter.
• this means that they've pretty much let her pursue any interest she's had and subsequently she has absolutely no idea how much strange many of her hobbies are and how much of a weirdo she is.
• the entirety of her life up until a few months ago was spent traveling Africa with her parents doing volunteer work - kind of like the Wild Thornberries but for charity instead of NatGeo ratings.
• she was actually born in Africa (I was thinking Kenya or thereabouts) and that plus her parents' nationalities probably means her citizenship is a mess of paperwork
• along with being really supportive her parents also allowed her an outrageous amount of autonomy - she's used to just wandering off by herself without a word for hours at a time and inserting herself into other people's business, even in Recolle
• incredibly well-versed in things like digging wells, architecture, spiritualism, African politics...but not so much when it comes to pop culture. or most recent technology. or like, anything a regular American teenager would know.
• crazy into Navajo spirituality as well as broader subsets of that sort of thing - think crystal-gazing, astral plane communication, shit like that.
• her spirit guide is a cheetah, thank you very much
• barefoot literally all the time. she'll fight you about putting on shoes.
• unsurprisingly, she loves to run. very athletic in general, but running is her favorite.
• stupidly into catching up on all the literature she's missed despite being really down about living in a city now, so if you can't find a classic novel at the library odds are good she's checked it out.

LOOKING FOR: Anything?? Nyah's an only child but if you'd (for whatever reason) like to be an aunt/uncle or cousin or other relation go right on ahead. People she's run into and disconcerted by telling them their aura was worryingly thin, actual friends, someone who might have called child services in the past...all that shit would also be super cool. JUST COME AT ME OK
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: It's been a significant chunk of time since I lasted played any version of Nepeta, so I'm a little uncertain about apping her here, especially seeing how many other super cool Homestucks are on this workshop oh my gosh this canon was supposed to be dead in the rp scene.

That said I don't...really know who I'd app if not her, haha. This is my muselist, so if anyone else happens to pop out at you that you'd want to see here, let me know? The further down the list they are the less confident I currently am with their voice, however.

okay two things really stand out with me, and that's both the ~aura~ reading (since Aura is a literal power in RWBY verse and I think discussing the topic might be a good sort of way to help trigger those memories / abilities for Yang's regains) and also just having a buddy that can do the one meaningful exercise a one-armed girl can do, which is run for hours and hours, they'd be able to bond over stuff like that... especially if Yang happens to be on her prescription meds at the time. /cough

also: high-five for being barefoot. playing like five pedals on her drum kit to make up for her missing hand means she's got some pretty tough feet. if they share like, a foot masseuse or something I think that and the running could both be interesting ways to meet or have met in the past? (MAYBE A PAST LIFE OOOH I don't know how far Nepeta would run with that sort of thing but there you have it.)

Nyah's really into storytelling (shocking, considering the reading blurb up there) so she'd approach the past life stuff from a kind of weird meta storytelling sort of perspective. Which is hilarious considering all the other stuff she's into, but she's a weird kid.

Assuming she doesn't bump into her while running Yang's more likely to have run into her being tossed out of a respectable establishment for refusing to put on even some sandals. She'd really love a buddy to run with, though, because she often ran with other people at home and it's a little lonely to be going the true solo life here. :c

Sorry not sorry for the dumbest regain trigger possible though, girl.

it's funny you should say that about getting tossed out because I just had the hilarious mental image of Yang like pulling down her shorts to wrap over feet like "is that good enough?" and then getting kicked out too

oooh storytelling would be good since canon Yang was big into telling stories to get her little sister to sleep at night, which may or may not be retained here, but being on the receiving end of something like that, or trading them back and forth, would be a cool way to interact in addition to the other stuff! Yang would probably have an obnoxious level of children's fairy tales in her head still.. and a collection of the versions that were original published and DEFINITELY not for children. welcome to the real Brothers ...Grimm.... omg why didn't i realize that before

The sad thing is that Nyah wouldn't even recognize this as a stupid/odd situation. She's seen less useful things used as a foot cover, it should be fine???

Haha OOPS SURPRISE MEMORY THERE. One of the first things that Nyah's going to be hitting up now that she's got a reliable library at her disposal is Shakespeare and Greek tragedies, so she'd be so down for some disturbing 'children's' stories. Her dad probably used to tell her Scandinavian folklore when she was younger as bedtime stories so...haha, she's used to the darkness...

I'll have to research some good stuff for Yang to recite. I had been thinking that maybe she did "dramatic readings" (i.e. bored recitation with poor voice acting job done while drunk and/or stoned) on her channel besides her music. the kind of stuff that she probably should delete but doesn't care to since it gives the channel some "variety". or open skype chats like campfire tales without the risk of someone falling into hot coals or forgetting to buy enough beer.

If she wants to do either of those with Nyah she'll have to guide her through it since her interest in tech...yeah, no, lmao. WHICH SHOULD BE EVEN MORE FUN since as soon as she's connected she'll just critique Yang's delivery fffs.

no yeah she sucks at this but it's fun, and getting Nyah on-line should be fun to try if someone else does get to her first! she prefers voice stuff and video to typing or texting for obvious reasons

I have a feeling V would DEFINITELY know her parents, as a relatively well-known nature photographer himself. Want a gentle adult figure who won't be put off by her wild child eccentricities?

Nyah needs as many authority figures who don't think she was dropped on the head as she can, haha. V'd have even more clout with her than others if he knew her parents, too, although the downside to that is she'd want to see all his pictures.

I also read that he works the graveyard shift at a convenience store so he could potentially also know her as "that weirdo girl who keeps coming in at three in the morning and asking for shit we don't carry with names I can't pronounce"

i am a fan of both options... we could say that they're neighbors but they didn't talk much because karkat would go out of his way to avoid them, but then she starts to go to that convenience store since it's close by to where they live and that's where they actually have their interactions??

since like. who even talks to their neighbors tbh.

It's a good thing he behaves himself on the job because otherwise he'd have to put up with her opening the window and shouting at him for all the street to hear on top of all the other stupidity.
