BLURB:

Sort of trying to switch up her core themes? In this AU I'm thinking about going down the route of Maki having a pageant mom so to speak, one who pushed her into showbiz (being an idol, idol culture, etc.) because she showed some promise at a young age and she saw it as an opportunity to live vicariously through her daughter.

Maki is kind haughty and arrogant and bad with people in canon and she still is here? Just in a different sorta way-- she's still an incredibly sheltered baby who knows about weird textbook things but very little in the way of common sense, but because she's spent most of her life in auditions and being homeschooled to keep up with her crazy schedule. So she's spent very little time around normal people or people her own age.

She struggles a lot with feeling like her identity belongs to her parents and not herself so I'm looking forward to exploring that! Just this time around being an idol is more a shackle than a way to cope with feeling lowkey dehumanized.

Still a grouch, still believes in santa, would still 1V1 you just to say that she did.

Also considering throwing her in public school for the first time in her life?
LOOKING FOR:

fellow teen queens and performers? whether that be fellow group members, rivals, or people who just have the same management?

classmates, friends, and antis who bash her in YouTube comments are fine too.

Does Maki still write music in this AU? Since. Yu here in his AU life has kind of grown up messing around with doing so and hasn't tried his hand at it much but probably will during the game and that'd be an amazing thing to bond over.

I love all the persona protags too so this works out??

Maki definitely still composes! I think it's one of the few things that keeps her going but I don't think she's really been allowed to compose her own music because her management keeps her under such tight lock and key but long story short-- she'd absolutely love to bond with other people over music? Yu not being all that experienced would probably make it easier for her to bond with him and stuff since she'll feel less like she's gotta look professional and impressive.

They can go the same school and stuff maybe? Look out for their mixtape it's gonna be fire

UGH I LOVE THIS IDEA SO MUCH the two of them composing together and learning from each other... yu would be tentative about getting into it since he had never thought about it seriously before but encouragement and someone to learn from would really help him. he'd come to her with ideas and lyrics and ask for her thoughts and input, which he'd really value....

i am so ready for this unstoppable duo.

we've already talked about this on twitter but i see maki and michel being each others only friends growing up. their mother's shoving them together because when michel was "michelle" he was terrible at being well-manner and interested in dressing up and they thought maki would be a good influence.

now he's older, transitioned and moved away from his mother he sees himself and one of the last people who can maybe free maki. but his own path to freedom was so messy, dependent on help from others and he's....himself; all awkward and anti-social. he doesn't know how to help her really aside from being there and getting her out of the house.

so they sit together awkwardly a lot and talk about life in high class cafes and talk about music and art and try desperately to make a human connection when neither of them know how to be human.

Honestly I have nothing to add to this because all of this is beautiful? Maki bitches that she can't be seen with him because he dresses like a 2chan thread brought to life and its bad for her image

Hmm, Nina here is pretty much an ex-queen--she was in a bunch of modelling and pageants and commercials as well as one of those mean popular girls, though that all dried up when she broke another student's nose and earned a reputation as a psycho.

They could've both met while on the job maybe? Needless to say I think they'd bump heads a bit

so um hi i've got Honoka here and I'm thinking on having her start off as a recently debuted idol so now i'm like... what if she was one of Maki's fans and that was what inspired her to try out being an idol...

i'm rly excited to see someone take up honk possibly?

idk if you've read any of the muse diaries!! but oh my god in maki's she gushes about how much honoka inspires her more than anyone else in muse for like pages upon pages so having that be reversed in this au would be really fun? except i think maki would still be pretty taken by honoka because she's just got one of those personalities that she's equal parts envious of and really inspired by.

she's gonna be snooty af for awhile though because honoka is a baby idol

god. imagine Honoka meeting her and being so starry eyed and excited about working alongside her but then also just wanting to aggressively befriend her bc Maki's so busy!!! so clearly she needs a friend to help her wind down!!! and just. god dam it. they'd be TOO CUTE I'D DIE.

they're unexpectedly really deep and im just like damn you couldn't put this characterization in the actual series??? but yes i would love to fill in the gaps and give them the interaction that never was because theres so much untapped potential irt a lot of muse dynamics??

and god since honoka isn't identified as like a leader type figure in this scenario for maki i think she would honestly be kinda nico tier haughty @ honoka in that "being an idol is hard work you do not know a damn thing who are you" way, but maki i think is also really weak when it comes to people who are really passionate and bold so really it's just a matter of time before she lets herself get caught up in honoka's shenanigans

RIGHT.... that's the only real bummer thing about the size of the group, you can't get all the interactions you wanna see and some of them are shallower than you'd like and HRRGHHH i guess that's what rp is for LMAO

Anya here won't have any recollection of being an idol - rather choosing a path where she lacks the ambitious to accept any scouting offers, so it'd be interesting to have her meet Maki?! even though I'm not entirely sure what the relationship would look like, besides Anya trying to be as supportive as possible
