Still working on the details but much like in canon, Qrow's gonna be in the range of late thirties to about forty years old. What I'm thinking is that he's got some kind of job working for a government agency like the FBI, CIA or NSA that has him wandering the world on super hush hush assignments. A little shady himself as these kinds of characters tend to be and kind of tired and weighed down with the various secrets he happens to know.

As NPCs are unaware of these things happening on Recolle, Qrow won't be investigating things in an official manner but he'll probably be curious enough to start taking interest in the events himself. As well as the people involved.

Here's a list of stuff I'm thinking so far.
- He's a spy and will probably set out to keep tabs on other characters for better or worse. Willing to discuss this with other players and work out what kind of information he can gather and how.
- Probably slightly less bitter and assholish than canon. Still kind of worldweary ("See how screwed up the world is right now? And that's just the stuff you're allowed to know about.") But said secrets aren't connected to serious world-shattering truths about how absolutely boned every living being is so he'll be easier to get along with.
- Still rude and snarky though.
- Perhaps has a somewhat dim view of the world, seeing a larger picture and allowing for an ends justify the means mentality. Still generally a decent person who's out to do the right thing and make the world a safer and better place though.
- Soft spot for kids. A little one.
- Pretty good fighter. Accomplished in hand to hand combat and firearms. Probably has a few other "field skills" to boot after a decade or two of experience.
- Quietly assures everyone that the government is totally not watching them. All while avoiding social media, covering all webcams and microphones and never using anything but prepaid burner phones for personal use. Work phone is off limits.
- In canon Qrow is basically a functioning alcoholic. I'm undecided about whether this will continue here but he'll certainly enjoy a drink now and then either way.
- Will eventually bring misfortune upon all who know him.


LOOKING FOR: I'm open to anything really. Family's good though I'm thinking he's unmarried and without children of his own but nephews, nieces, siblings and exes are all fine. Drinking buddies, flings and friends with benefits near his own age range is grand. People to troll with his "knowledge" of government conspiracies. Kids to mentor or otherwise take under his wing. Shady folks to investigate or even be contacts with. Hit me up.

So, if Qrow's work ever brought him in contact with the military, what are the odds on him having gotten into one or more pissing contests with Penny's dad and/or her dad's boss.

Oh, that's entirely possible. Qrow's not really going to have beef with the military like he does with Atlas in canon (he may be former military himself I'm still working on AU details) but he can have some prickly history with Penny's dad for sure.

I really love how you've taken canon-Qrow's role and AU'd it into being a spy and also still kind of being like "sighs about the world." The easy route would be me saying "Luke owns a bar that Qrow may or may not be familiar with in the city" but also while his AU only has him really skilled in fencing the fighting thing would be of interest to him.

I'm not entirely sure yet how but I'd be up for some vague pre-established CR with them if you are. Luke's only 23 but he's most likely to keep an eye on adults that are keeping an eye on things in the city anyway since he grew up here.

Thanks a lot. Qrow's best when he's in on some kind of secrecy that others aren't so I want to try to carry that over.

The bar thing could work. Qrow's pretty closed mouthed about his work, particularly around strangers, but Luke could have seen him take some guy apart in a fight sometime. Qrow isn't much of a fencer, more military hand-to-hand techniques, but it could be a thing to talk about.

Honestly Luke would probably completely miss that Qrow works for the government in any capacity unless explicitly told or it was obvious so that totally works for me. Generally speaking he just tends to be nosy about people he sees more than once or twice. We can kind of play it by ear, but I'm looking forward to seeing what else you come up with if you decide to app in!

As long as he's drinking whiskey from a Schnee-owned bottling plant, we'll get along just fine.

Remember that scene in Waterworld where Kevin Costner runs his own pee through a machine and drinks it? That's what drinking Schnee whiskey is like.

... So we're probably not gonna get along, huh?

Well, no promises there but it's only because he thinks they suck.

Seriously though he can both take her down peg here and there and then give her some mentor like real talk if she ever needs it. Especially if her old man sucks as much as canon.

I think her dad is going to be very controlling, but not the same kind of assbag as Jaques Schnee.

That being said, she very much needs some real talk in her life, so please adopt her.

And by that I mean, yeah, sure! I mean, he'll give it a shot at least. If nothing else he'll encourage her to do what she thinks is right when she starts getting that voice in her head telling her to be a hero.

Which really kind of be what she needs, given I expect her initial reaction to be, "hahahahaha, that seems like a lot of trouble."

Hey, if she'd rather stay home, not get involved and go on and live a happy little life and grow up to follow her dreams without ever having to spare a thought for what allows her to do that... he'll go ahead and tell her to do that too.

What he might do is hit her with a big reality check if she starts treating jumping around with superpowers and playing hero like a game. Go home or go all-in but don't get in the way and all.

Okay, despite the fact that Sun will be a lot younger than him, I'll offer him up to be a drinking buddy. If only cause the idea of Sun taking him on in a drinking contest and then losing every time is hilarious to me.

Also, if he's going to be a spy or working for the government, he might be one of the first ones that Sun could contact once he gets his old body back. "So, uh, what are your thoughts on spontaneously growing a tail?" Just a thought.

Otherwise, I'm just starry eyed at there being a Qrow here.

As long as Sun's at least 21 he'll take him on. I like the idea of Sun busting in the place like some big western showdown all "THIS TIME" only to get drunk under the table by the scruffy old dude again.

The rest sounds great too. I love the idea of Qrow suddenly becoming the so-called responsible adult to a bunch of young people while not having a goddamned clue about tails??? What?!

im really digging qrow as a spy and while jeanne isn't involved in any sort of law enforcement, i can offer her as a drinking buddy. her family is mostly made up of politicians so idk that could be a thing??

other than that i'd be cool with them being sparring buddies too if you're up for it. jeanne mostly does hand to hand (savate/krav maga) but her learning firearms would be cool and also a potential memory regain?? idk i like qrow a lot and i think they could get along together

That sounds great though. Maybe they met on some overseas operation Qrow was on however many years ago and kept in touch. Shortlived fling optional but Qrow could aways use more drinking friends. Especially rich ones who don't mind picking up the tab.

that could definitely be a thing; jeanne traveled a lot during her modeling gig so she could've ran into qrow at a bar/club or something. and lmao i'm down for the shortlived fling, jeanne's too independent to date anyone but that wouldn't stop her from having a little fun once in a while.

but yes, drinking buddies! she definitely wouldn't usually pick up the tabs, but i'm sure qrow might've made it worth her while to make an exception or two

That sounds great. What kind of spy would he be if he didn't stop in for a drink in a fancy nightclub in another country? A terrible one, that's what kind.

But hey, that sounds right up Qrow's alley. Between the job and his own independent streak he's probably not super keen on starting up a serious thing with anybody himself but he'll join her for a spar and teach her to shoot if it comes up. Then they can have a casual night at the bar.

He promises to cover his own drinks and not call her in the morning.

I'm thinking Ruby probably hasn't met Qrow in person for some time, but still talks via one of the social networks or something. Your call on the details, though?

That could work. I figure Qrow could have a Facebook or Facebook equivalent account he keeps in touch with her with. Loaded with "vacation photos" from around the world! Pretty sparse friends list though.

The only stumbling block I can see is that Yang's player said she isn't interested in having her related to Qrow. I was thinking he could have been a friend of Ruby's mom and be a non-blood related uncle like canon. What are you thinking for the status of Ruby's mom in this AU?
