CHARACTER: May (Named May Sfondi in this world)
CANON: Guilty Gear
BLURB:

A sky pirate, bruiser, literal womanchild who despite her stature and relatively immature behavior is not only a grown ass adult, but also the first officer of a huge, all woman crew. Except the one guy, but he's a loser. May can best be described as energetic, earnest, and plucky af.

As far as her AU goes, the idea right now is for her to young boat captain on Peach Beach offering coastal tours to people visiting the boardwalk and other bits of nautical tourism. I haven't fleshed out 100% what she's doing, I just know I want it to involve the sea, since that's way way more viable than airships in a Relatively Normal City. I've considered having her be involved in shady criminal activity, too, since pirate, but that's still tbd.

As for her nationality, she's still Japanese, but she was raised by the Sfondi family, adopted at a young age, and while I don't want to create an expy for Johnny because he's an app-able character, I'm still gonna leave that a nebulous thing so she has a place to belong. Her ship crew, while still all women, will for now remain faceless, nameless NPCs, in the very unlikely case anyone apps any of the other Jellyfish Pirates.

She's still capable of feats of strength, they're just much more believable for a human being of her size, rather than just swinging around anchors willy nilly. A big proponent of crossfit, I guess.

LOOKING FOR:

Anything, but especially people inclined to spend time on the beach/boardwalk who would know of her, the Mayship, her business dealings shady or otherwise, cops she's sweet-talked into looking the other way, that kind of thing. Or people she's gotten into rumbles with, because lord knows she's a fighting game character and there's plenty of room for those. Also, selfishly, I kind of want her to have a love interest in Anyone That Isn't Johnny, because despite my love for the character, goddamn her obsession with him is so obnoxious and I'd like to make it less annoying than the game makes it, if I can, and I think developing feelings for someone, anyone, besides him might help that. idk, call me selfish, but if you're familiar with the canon, you know exactly what I'm on about.

So yeah. Seabros, fighten buddies, CREW MEMBERS???, people who'd date a salty sea lass who acts like she's a teenager despite being in her twenties, what a goddamn loser

I have a feeling she and Ken would know each other. He just stares in awe at the amount of weight she can clean.

I imagine since in canon her home was on a small island just off the coast of the main continent, Yang has been on boats and done her fair share of fishing. I could see that, even with her handicap, it being a habit she engages in from time to time when she's feeling like getting away from the city or she's uninspired in working on her music.

another potential: Yang once "Short People" near her too loudly and got thrashed for it. you could say she got decked o7 that would be pre-accident to be be impressive considering Yang's own training, but it could be they got into scraps back when 1) Yang would go near the beach at all without being fully clothed and 2) when she actually actively trained at all.

tbh, even if they scuffled in the past, I see Yang as someone May would pretty highly respect and would gladly give her space on her boat to cast out a line and drink a few beers.

it's good to have people that won't pity her for being mostly 'armless these days

pity's for pissbabies. as far as may's concerned, yang's made of nails and grit and that's good in her book.

May is so much good packed in such a small space

Something that can be an amusing follow up aside from the "cop and criminal" dynamic is in T.F.'s canon, he himself is a former pirate. Whenever he gets some of those memories back, he'd probably be more inclined to empathize with May!

I MEAN to May's benefit, most of what she's gonna be involved with is small time scams on rich marks and fencing of stolen goods, and most of that money she makes goes back into the community. She's not gonna claim she's Robin Hood, but she makes a pretty good case for local enforcement to kind of look the other way.
