JANUARY AU WORKSHOP
AU WORKSHOP - JANUARY Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. Please respond to the post with the below form, and/or feel free to comment to anyone else to work things out! Please be aware that posting to this workshop does not guarantee you a reserve, and that multiple players are permitted to workshop the same character. Please find our mod questions comment here. CHARACTER: CANON: BLURB: Here you should write what you have for your AU; your character's age, occupation, name, hobbies - that sort of thing! Just let us know what you have. LOOKING FOR: Are you looking for family members or friends or enemies for your character to be pre-planned? Or are you asking for ideas or feedback on your AU idea? Anything goes, just specify what you would like. OPTIONAL ENABLE ME: Are you torn between which character to app? Let us help! Post your ideas in a comment and let fellow players offer feedback and CR ideas. You can also use this section to ask for canonmates you would like to see in-game whether it be in your specific AU or for different CR. |
Celia "Lia" Espellomente / original
CHARACTER: Celia Espellomente — "Lia" to her friends.
CANON: original. I have links to 'canon' info on her journal.
BLURB:
• Celia is 14 or 15 years old, and is a freshman in high school.
• Her parents are a middle-aged couple, and Celia herself is an only child.
• Her family moved to Recollé very early in her life, early enough that she remembers nothing about her hometown. Her parents don't really talk much about life before then.
• Canonically, Celia's hair color is green. In the AU, it'll be black. When the relevant regain happens she'll try to pass it off as having dyed it.
• She is noticeably short for her age, and is probably teased about it by classmates as well. Doesn't seem to let it bother her much, though.
• She absolutely thrives on social interaction, to the point that one could argue she often requires it in heavy doses in order to function normally. She may get to be kind of annoying as a result, but she is capable of shutting up when shutting up is deemed appropriate or necessary.
• Celia can be a bit of a problem child:
■ She loves exploring, so she has this nasty tendency to go wandering off in unfamiliar places. Somebody please keep an eye on her on class trips and such.
■ She has a mild rebellious streak and doesn't particularly like to do what she's told unless it's something she would already be interested in doing anyway. Her grades in classes she's not really interested in suffer a bit for it. She'll push back against anything she doesn't want to do, but if you push her hard enough she'll relent to avoid making a scene.
• On the subject of interests: open-world and/or exploration-heavy games, music (I'm debating having her play flute in the school's band), drawing (not skilled at it, and rarely finishes anything due to jumping from one idea to the next), writing (same), nearly anything her friends do that isn't super-wrong.
• Celia may or may not have a dumb crush on a boy around her age. If anyone is interested in having their character be the subject of said crush, she won't actually have it yet as to permit it developing in-game as things move along. Otherwise, it'll just be some background NPC or something.
LOOKING FOR:
• A potential crush, if anyone is interested in playing with the idea of this dumb little thing getting attached to them.
• Friends, classmates, teachers, generally anyone a high-schooler could reasonably interact with.
• Role models, both good and bad.
OPTIONAL ENABLE ME:
• Nope. As of yesterday I've decided that if I do go through with this, it'll be with Celia.

She also is happy to keep in contact with her students when they move on to middle school and then high school if they'll allow her, going out of her way to recommend them books or things they may like and if they need help in any homework or projects they're welcome to go to her. Basically Ainsley could be a role model for her and do her best to support and care for her. Celia would have been someone she looked out for her in particular. (Especially during class trips back in the day because goodness!! Please be safe.)

Celia's favorite things to do back in the day would have been obviously any sort of outdoor stuff (feel free to assume her parents were called any number of times about her wandering around), plus hands-on stuff like art/science projects, and reading (mostly fantasy stuff), so she'd have done best in relevant subjects with everything else lagging behind somewhat. She also takes a huge interest in anything her friends are doing, so she'd have done particularly well with group projects if Ain made sure she was working with someone she knew.
She probably also doodled in her notes a lot and had to be reminded to pay attention at times, but Ain could probably have figured out a way to keep things interesting for her. I'd forgotten to note in my toplevel comment that Celia is very much interested in things that feel new, which is a big reason for the whole wanders off thing; she mostly wants to see/do things she hasn't seen/done before.

As a bookworm herself, especially for all things folklore and fantastical, she would have tried her best to connect with Celia over this shared interest among other ways. I can see Ainsley giving her a book after class, suggesting she may like it and even encouraging her to take the book for herself if she really did! She would have done her best to keep things interesting for Celia in terms of class projects and studies, even asking her after class how it went and if she enjoyed the games/activities they had that day or not.
She'd want the kids to enjoy school since it's a place where they can learn a lot about themselves so she'll try her hardest to tailor her teaching style for her and even offer one-on-one tutoring after school if that helps her with the other subjects she's lagging behind in. Ain wants to make sure everyone is happy, basically!!!

It's also possible that Celia could be one of her victims, though since Celia wouldn't actively provoke her (before or after That Incident), it'd probably mostly be verbal stuff. Call the kid names, tease her about being short, pretty much whatever. Celia doesn't react much to the stuff she expects to hear, though, which might get a little frustrating to Nina if she's trying to get a response.
