Welcome to Recollé's AU Workshop! On this post players new and old are encouraged to help one another make connections for their AU lives and to ask for or offer ideas if they so choose. CHARACTER: Oerba Yun Fang
CANON: Final Fantasy XIII

AU NAME: ~~Olive~~ Freya Yun; the name as a whole is still pending, but the embarrassing first name is sure staying
AU AGE: 21
AU OCCUPATION: Something to do with the fire service. I'm undecided on the details of this one; probably volunteer, looking to go career?
BLURB:
-Her family moved to Recolle from Australia when she was in her mid-teens, following her father's job. She maintains a decent relationship with her normal, living (!!) parents, though it's not without its contentions.
-...like her continual use of Freya, her middle name, as her given name. She does not acknowledge her legal first name, has gone to great length to keep it hidden for some time, and gods help you if you bring it up.
-Total outdoors and athletics enthusiast. She probably spends more time at the fitness center than her actual apartment. Spends a lot of time at the climbing wall, since Recolle has a total lack of local mountains to scale. Big MMA fan, spends time camping and hiking in the woods in the summer, and hunts in the fall.
-She probably has worked a variety of part-time jobs since showing up in Recolle, like warehouse work or a couple summers as a lifeguard.
-If it doesn't pertain to her ideal career paths or safety matters, rules? What rules?
-Seriously, don't bring up her first name.
-If I end up deciding she's taking classes, she probably has an interest in archaeology and ecology.
-You may have seen her once in one of those video compilations of people doing stupid things and somehow not dying horribly. Maybe.
-Always supervise her use of salt when she's cooking.

LOOKING FOR: Comrades-in-stupidity, ~~handlers~~ friends that'll keep her in check, people she can be a good/bad/reckless influence on, old people to remind her that her body's going to hate her in twenty years, sparring partners or enemies for her fighting tendencies. Coworkers or employers if she's volunteer fire service? People to rein her in when her more unpleasant memories start kicking in.

If we're going with them having known each other for awhile, Lucy might not know about ~~Olive~~ Fang's full name.

And then try to keep a straight face for as long as possible when she learns it before cracking the fuck up and Fang chasing her over a fence or something.

Lucy's going to lose this chase. Or maybe not; just chase her enough to get the point across, then swap out her hairdye for something ~~olive~~ green next dying time.

She knows where you sleep Lucy, that's threat enough :V

Or would it be better if Kaede already knew the name, but kept her mouth shut because of photo evidence of the clown-hat outfit?

i'd love for may and her to go to the same gym but i can't imagine may paying for a gym membership

BACK IN HER DAY THEY USED TO WALK—yeah no she's giving up the Oldest Hag card for this one. For now. Man, some of Fang's flashbacks are going to be mindnumbingly boring.

I know nothing about May; tell me about May. Non-gym work out buddies? All I know May owns a boat, and I was tossing around the idea of Freya being a previous summer lifeguard, so maybe somehow meeting from that?

may's a Certified Rapscallion and Ne'er Do Well. when she's not doing boat tours during beach season, she's a petty thief and con woman. canonly, she's a high spirited sky pirate, but in recolle, she hasn't quite made the leap from being a smalltime hood to actual piracy.

but she's also super into working out.

Oh man, how would you like May to sometime give her a memory regain that might (temporarily?) ruin their friendship? Because I do have an opportunity related to thieves :V

I keep trying to find a water-related stunt fail thing to post here but I haven't found anything satisfactory yet.

MAY REFUSES TO LET ANY FRIENDSHIP BE RUINED that's a thing that remains solid regardless of au or canon

hey there! figured i'd pop in here (late at that) to say i'm excited to see someone interested in bringing in Fang! def one of my fav FF peeps so i'm not going to complain haha. ANYWAY, Bigby here could maybe know Fang if you'd like that! especially if she's a volunteer fire fighter. he's in law enforcement and i could see them running into one another. extra laughs if it's during one of those soccer/football games. he also works out a lot, so i will never turn down fitness pals either!!

Fitness pals, loitering around on-call, either or both! I admit I'm not very familiar with Bigby other than "that werewolf guy that smokes a lot," but I look forward to their interactions!

...god help me it just struck me that Lupin has a canonical weakness for feisty, energetic women.

Well, that's going to be awkward until she remembers ~~she's the oldest hag alive~~ her real age, haha

Ha, no need to worry. He wouldn't breathe a word outside of some fairly extraordinary circumstances.

So, how can we get them to interact? What does Lupin do?

If she goes down the university route, that's easy, since he teaches there. Introductory stuff, so she wouldn't be in his classes. And I imagine she would do some of those stupid things and fail to die on-campus.
