The story doesn't end with the destruction of the mansion, though it very well could; it doesn't even end with revival from death. His first life had ended in the underground labs of this place, and that's going to be how it stays. When he moves to go find Jaeger after the fact there's no obstruction; there aren't any monsters or zombies or errant members of S.T.A.R.S. around. It's just quiet, and he'll make his way outside eventually to see if Jaeger went where he told him to.]
