[Derek looks up from his cell phone, his thumb hovering over the call button to the school.]
Uh, give me a moment to call your school and mom so she knows where you are. And um... don't touch my cat.
[If Al looked behind the couch he would see a Siamese cat at the top of a huge cat tree staring down at him, as if glaring at him, despising his existence.]
[Derek walks into his bedroom and closes the door. He first calls his mom and tells her he ran into Al and that he was at his place. He seemed to be having a hard time and he's going to talk to him before he heads off to work. He then called the school and lied that Al was sick. Hanging up, Derek sighs. Wow, Al just had to ask the one of the many questions he wasn't expecting having to answer for a while. He runs a hand through his hair and then exits his room and walks back into the living room.]
So you wanted to know about my birth mom right?
[Derek takes a seat in the recliner next to the couch.]
There isn't anything I can tell you really. I don't remember her. I went flying though a window during the accident and I hit my head. When I woke up, all I could remember was my name. The only reason I know I went through a window was because I've read the police reports. My parents are buried in the John and Jane Doe section of the cemetery under ID numbers.
