We don't know what Retrospec means by that, exactly, but from what I'm assuming, it's who we were in our previous lives.
The people working for the company said they collect... shards, of some kind, from destroyed worlds, that contain people's souls, and they're trying to... align us, somehow, with those and our bodies. A lot of it involves remembering things from those other lives, or receiving things we used to own, but some of the changes have been on the more extreme side.
It sounds very far-fetched and illogical, but it's the only explanation we've really gotten from them.
