FEBRUARY TDM
FEBRUARY TEST DRIVE The city of Recollé. What a beautiful, wonderful place. Sure, some things seem a little off sometimes but it's still home. The weather's starting to clear up as little signs of spring appear. What will you do today? I. Spring is in the air and today residents of the city can be found in all districts clearing out the rest of the winter gloom. Snow shovels are replaced for garden trowels as people begin planting flowers, trees, and vegetables. Some residents are in Hollingberry Field over in Viea Village cleaning up stray litter and debris to make the park enjoyable for all. Will you volunteer to help? Are you willing to get your hands dirty, or are you just annoyed that you can't go anywhere without having to side-step a puddle of mud? II. It starts innocently enough. You wake up in the morning, walk into your bathroom to brush your teeth and one of your lightbulbs burn out. That's not unusual. You make a note to buy more lightbulbs next time you head to Freshens. What is unusual is that the rest of the city seems to be experiencing similar problems. One of the theatres at Flix can't seem to get their projector to work and several customers are clamouring to get their ticket refunded. The elevator at the Towers stops working halfway up between floors. Neon signs on some of the shops in Tisse flicker and pop until some of the letters fade. The computers at the Recollé Public Library and Resource Center crash making it impossible to do school work. It's not just outside either. Appliances start acting up. Your phone might ring with a ringtone that isn't your own, but no one else is on the other line. What's causing all of this? It might be worth investigating. III. You realize that it might be wise to check Retrospec to see if any of your fellow residents are posting about similar experiences. You reach for your device, (or perhaps you've managed to wrestle one of the library's computers to work with you) and open the application only to be met with a blast of music. Shutting the app doesn't help. Every time the app is opened, a new song will begin playing on its own. The song changes each time, but they all seem to center on the same theme. The only way to stop the issue is to let the song play all the way through. Good thing you weren't sneaking in some social media time during class or work…were you? Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who escaped having the app automatically downloaded to your mobile devices or appear for you at inconvenient intervals. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore and the next wave of Retrospec users are chosen. New users will hear a very different song as their greeting when the app begins to download, prompting them to notice their profile filled out with their name and upload a picture. The song will autoloop until new users oblige to these steps. Now wouldn't be a bad time to ask fellow users some questions. IV. Billboards, bus stops, and posters make up many of the colorful landmarks in Chata and Tisse. These signs all have a purpose whether it's to advertise new movies at Flix, a special sale at Towers, or a hot new band that will be playing at the Atrium. Too bad things seem to be getting out of hand here, too. What do you mean the sign told you everything must go from the furniture department? Nobody said anything about half-priced movies with all you can eat popcorn! All throughout the city advertisements pop up displaying false claims. Are you one of the residents trying to cash in on these ads? Or maybe you're an employee who has to clean up this mess. Yikes. BONUS. The subway system in Recollé has been down for quite some time now due to construction. It doesn't make travelling through the city impossible, but it does make several people unhappy (including Mayor Mayer.) The non-functional subway has become a part of every day life, but when you pass by over the next few days, you can almost hear the sound of a subway car speeding along the tracks. Any inquiries will be met with disdain, and any attempts to head into the subway station to check things out will be met with construction workers telling residents to scram. It seems that this area is blocked off for now, but that doesn't mean residents can't investigate. Welcome to the ![]() The February 2017 TDM directory can be found here. charlotte wiltshire | hello charlotte
[ Of course, Charlotte doesn't mind getting her hands dirty! Actually, she welcomes it, especially if it'll help make the park prettier. She's honestly so excited to see how it'll turn out.
Charlotte looks SUPER DETERMINED!! She got out of school to do this, she's ready. So whenever you approach, she'll have a gardening shovel in hand and greet you with a smile. ]
Hello. Want to help me plant some of these flowers?
ii
[ Charlotte's in the public library, not for any particular reason. Though, she did promise that she'd join someone to study, perhaps? Ahh... She got kind of behind on one of her classes, so she needs to catch up.
Though, searching through an aisle for a certain book her phone does start blaring one of those songs from that weirdo app that was downloaded earlier.
She fumbles for the phone from her bag, staring at it as the music just continues to ring through the library loudly. Oh, god... Are people staring at her -- she's not too good with phones. Can she delete the app??? She doesn't know how! ]
Ah, uhm... Sorry -- can you help me out with this?
[ aaaaaaa ]
wildcard
[ feel free to throw anything at me! if we have assumed / closer CR you can also throw anything at me that we possible pre-planned! I'll definitely roll with anything! ]
ii
And now the music's wailing loudly through the societal silence of the library, garnering the flustered girl several judgmental stares. His is more sympathetic—which might be why she turns to him, searching through an adjacent bookshelf, rather than anyone else lingering around.]
Uh, I don't know, maybe. Happened to me a while ago. [His mouth sets into a line for a moment.] Trying to turn down the volume or turn the phone off don't do much.
[Even more attention is being directed their way, both from the loud music and the speech loud enough to be heard over it. Oops. Morgan glances in the direction of some approaching, authoritative footsteps, and he glances to the girl before gesturing down the aisle of bookshelves, towards a side exit to the building.] Though maybe we should step out before the librarians descend on us.
[He'd been the one talking, so now he's complicit in this disruption too.]

You're right..!
[ Charlotte fumbles with her phone some more, attempting to turn it down except when Morgan gestures to her about leaving she stops instead to follow. ]
Oh, man... They look really angry. It's best we do leave, huh. [ Charlotte's phone is still blaring because she has yet to actually do anything about it, but it's time for them to make their dramatic exit out of the library (with background music). ]
I don't really know about phones much... I don't use this one so often. [ Cue awkward laughter. ]
no subject
Beating a hasty retreat out of the quiet library seems to be the best bet, though; he didn't necessarily want a tongue-lashing from whatever angry librarians were approaching. It would probably be a little more embarrassing than the woman who had stared daggers at him when his phone had activated like this on a crowded bus. As soon as it looks like she was going to follow him, he makes a beeline for the side-door.]
See, that's the weird thing—I'm not sure the app causing the music showed up on your phone because of anything you did.
[Because Morgan sure as hell hadn't downloaded it. And he had ineffectually grilled all of his friends, thinking they'd put it on there as a prank, but they had all pleaded innocent and he... found reason to believe them.
They reach the side-door and he pushes it open, moving outside and holding it for her. Once she's outside, he closes it. No one seems to have followed.
The area to the side of the building is not quite as grand as the front—a sidewalk hemmed in by a railing, the pavement of a street leading around to the back, parking spots. At least there's not really anyone around to be annoyed by the music.]
Look on your phone. [Morgan walks towards the railing and leans against it.] It's the "Retrospec" app, right?

i!
[A FAST ANSWER. Kiyomitsu raises his hand in a "nah" gesture and everything... What a punk. He's also wearing gloves and carrying a broom, but it doesn't look like he's come even close to breaking a sweat yet.]
But I'll sweep up the walkway once you're done, I guess. [...] How many did they give you to plant?
no subject
You're lucky Charlotte is a nice person!! His quick and rude refusal doesn't bother her one bit. ]
Oh. Thank you! That's nice of you.
[ Let's see, let's see. ]
Quite a bit... I think they want most of the walkway lined with flowers. They also give me a bunch of different colours, what order should I put them in?
no subject
But Kiyomitsu isn't a total asshat, so once he hears "they want the whole walkway lined", he just sighs.]
I guess I can help you with a few before sweeping, too. [He guesses!! But oh, color coordinating, that's definitely more up his alley.]
Mm... The purple and red ones should go next to each other. If you put a yellow one in every four or so, that'd look nice, too.

Of course!
Which ones should we start with?
[easiest agreement in the world]

She points to the box of flowers, a wide array of colours and types all gathered within. ]
Look at these yellow cosmos! Aren't they just cute, Anya? I like these -- do you have a favourite flower? We could start with your's.

[CHARLOTTE COMES FIRST.]
We can do lilies after if you'd like... I love lilies.

ii
Admittedly, because he's kind of a jerk, he can't help but snicker at her misfortune at first, but then he'll be walking over to her—and calling out, somewhat loudly:]
Thanks for holding onto my phone for me while I was in the toilet, Charlo—wait, is something up with it? I'll deal with it from here, thanks.
[Hey, Charlotte. Give him your phone that he's pretending is his, since it'll probably be a little less embarrassing if people think she was just holding onto it for a friend...]

Uhm -- This isn't your pho-
[ Oh! ]
Oh- yes. I get it now. Here you go.
[ Just??? Take her phone, I guess. THANKS. ]
wildcard aka BABYSITTING SHENANIGANS also I hope the nickname for her is okay
Hey Lottie? I'm leaving a box on the step, can you bring it in? There's some other stuff my car that I need to get so I'll be right back.
[...it's actually a huge human sized box with the words "Giant Jenga" emblazoned over the side. Good luck bringing it in, Charlotte.]
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!! the nickname is so cute oh nooo
She promptly opens the door. ]
Oh! This is a big box, I never heard of this game before. [ But before she can #attempt to bring this in... ] Uhm - do you need help, Ms. Minako? If you have more things to carry, that is.
:3c fufu excellent I'm glad you like it
[The car door closes, the car beeps, and then Minako is back with a grin.]
Leftover Valentine's Day tea cakes. Thought it could be our dessert. Your dad gets his own share, naturally.

i!!
I don't mind. [ shortly, like a true tsundere. ] I've promised to clean up other places, so I can't stay long though. Is that alright with you?
no subject
Elliot, you don't have to be so rude. If you want to stay you can just say so.
[ Gosh... Unless he actually promised to clean up other places? She doesn't want to hold him up. ]
Well... If you help me out, I can help you clean those other places! How about that?
i
Sure — I have some spare time.
[ he takes a moment to glance at the flowers that she's brought with her, since while they're all beautiful flowers... they have to start somewhere. ]
Should we start with your favorite flowers?
no subject
Thank you. I really like these yellow cosmos, aren't they pretty?
[ But first: ] I was told to decorate this walkway, but we have a lot of colours, so I hope we can make it look nice.
[ Please bust out that colour theory, my dude. BUT FIRST FIRST..!!! ] But next we can do your favourite flower too..! What's your's, mister?

i.
And Charlotte is here too! This is is bound to be more fun when you have friends to do it with. ]
Of course. Now, what kind of flowers do we have here...?
no subject
[ Garry is such a good, kind bean. This is why Charlotte likes him. ]
We have... A lot, [ Gesture to the boxes filled with a bunch of flowers. Any colour, any flower type, you name it. ] I'm honestly kind of overwhelmed by the choices. Should we start with your favourite, Garry?

[ Ritsu wanted nothing to do with someone everyone else was staring at. And just as that cold, unhelpful remark comes out of his lips, Ritsu's phone starts, and together the phones make an awful, marvelous display of fusion remixes gone wrong. An awkward moment that feels much longer stretches over the air between them. ]
O... kay. Let's both head out, right now.
[ He promptly shuts the book he was browsing and inserts it back where he got it. Any second now Charlotte!! ]
no subject
Oh, yeah. Haha, I guess you're right about that.
[ Ritsu, don't be so cold. Though, Charlotte does catch a glance at how annoyed the librarians look. Yikes! If she doesn't do something she'd be banned, most likely. ]
Here, come with me before the librarians yell at us. [ Because apparently she's leading the way now, music still blaring... As if they have their own personal background music now. Maybe they should make their own mixtape. ]

ii
Probably not, but let's give it a try anyway. Have you tried turning the volume down?
[Tired tech guy tone, tbh. Is your computer plugged in, ma'am? Please be nicer, Jason.]
no subject
But sadly... Charlotte doesn't really understand much sarcasm or tones that are on the mean spectrum, so uhh, she's definitely thinking Jason is still being nice and helpful..! ]
Oh, that is a good idea! Let's see.
[ Charlotte attempts to turn down the volume, but for some reason it only makes the volume louder? Is this the app itself or just Charlotte's ineptitude with technology? The mystery. ]
Uh oh... I don't really know what's going on, I don't even remember downloading this...
