JANUARY TEST DRIVE
The city of Recollé. A beautiful city with beautiful people. The place you call home. It's a wonderful home, isn't it? With everything you could possibly ever want right at your fingertips, why would you ever want to leave?

In honor of this glorious city, the residents of Recollé are preparing for its annual Founder's Day celebration…you'll help out, won't you?

I.
Recollé Square is bustling with activity today and several residents are working together to pitch a large tent. Others are working together to decorate the fountain of the founders with flowers and streamers. Children and dogs run through the area and there's song in the air as everyone works together.

Are you one of the people helping with the streamers? Or perhaps you're holding the ropes of the tent taunt so it doesn't blow away? Hey, maybe you're catering the whole event to feed those hard workers! The choices are endless…but you might want to catch those balloons that are starting to float away!

II.
Meanwhile in Chata, business is booming as everyone crowds the parking lot of Freshens trying to fight their way into the store. You really should have thought to buy your groceries much sooner. Everyone knows that Founder's Day is one of the best potluck days and, weather permitting, picnic days. Are you having any luck getting into the store? Is that the last rack of ribs? You better hurry and snag them!

On the flipside, shop owners in Chata are busy setting up food stalls and merchandise tables in preparation of the main event. The smell of sweets and spices fills the air and you can't help but follow your nose to check it out. The vendors are all friendly and happy to give away samples of their goods in the hopes that you'll be back in a few days' time. Or maybe you're one of those vendors hoping to attract customers for Founder's Day. Do you have all of your supplies? Your permits? Is that teenager trying to steal apples from your produce stand? Everything's a little chaotic in the days before Founder's Day.

III.
The work doesn't stop there. Over in Tisse it's party central with flashing lights, sound tests, and a festive atmosphere that says the celebration's already started for several businesses. The line for Expressive is out the door with customers eager for their Founder's Day special. Be careful, you might have to finagle your way through the crowd. Throughout the day you may hear music and mic tests coming from the Atrium as the local schools work together during their dress rehearsal for the Founder's Day Pageant. You might even have an insider's look if you're one of the students in the pageant or one of the stage hands helping with last-minute set design, costume alteration or any of the other countless things that could go wrong.

The employees at the boutiques inside the Towers are bustling as well, swapping their floor displays and handing out flyers and coupons to shoppers to encourage them to come back for their big sales. Maybe you are one of those employees and now you're dealing with some wicked papercuts, or maybe the smell of butter is seeping into your clothing as Flix opens its doors to an early marathon of historical films depicting the life and tales of the city.

Tisse is most certainly the busiest of the districts today, but there's still so much to be done!

IV.
Most important of all, back in Tribunal Terrace residents will find Mayor Mayer out and about today which may seem unusual. The Mayor tends to stay inside City Hall keeping the city running from there, but today he's speaking with someone handling a large truck. People passing by may hear some scurrying from inside the truck, the sound of claws skittering on the metal floor, and…is that clucking? No, wait, now it's the sound of hoofs clomping and the whinny of a horse.

What's going on in there? Maybe you should investigate and ask around. Employees working for the Mayor will only give you a strange look in response, and the Mayor himself is unavailable for commentary…but it can't just be your imagination, can it?

Upon further examination and questioning residents will be told that these are horses for pony rides for the kids on Founder's Day, but that doesn't stop all of the weird noises. What on earth is going on?

BONUS.
Despite the festivities and the light-hearted mood of the city, it's still winter. Like all winters prior, it's chilly enough that you'll need a warm coat outside, but the storm season has passed. Instead, today in all districts there's a light flurry of snow falling, snowflakes gently twirling and landing on your shoulders and in your hair. It's not enough to stop the work, but it may send several people to crowd inside coffee shops for a hot drink or shops to take a break from the cold.

Bet you weren't expecting that influx of business, were you?

And later…much later, in fact, those carrying cell phones or tablets will feel a jolt from the device. A closer look will reveal that a new application has started to install itself on these devices, but you can't seem to open it right away. That's a bit odd, isn't it? It might be wise to check other devices in the city to see if the application's installed itself. Upon further investigation, though, you'll find only a handful of residents have the app installed. The app pops up on any public computer you may use but fades away the moment you log off.

Strange, strange, strange. Once it fully loads on your device, you'll find that the app, Retrospec, appears to be a social media app with the option to friend people, share statuses, pictures, videos and more. Those sections are currently blocked out, however. Take some time to fill out your profile if you'd like; that portion of the application seems to be the only one that can be accessed currently. All other social media (Facebook, Twitter, and regular texting) are accessible, but the app itself stubbornly remains on your own profile page.

(Additionally: we will not be allowing TDM threads to be used for memory regains.) Write as many or few prompts as you want, tag around, and have fun!

As a reminder: as per our app rules, please try not to reference other characters in your threads or in your AUs if that character isn't being applied for! Our favorite example is as follows: if an Elsa from Frozen is being TDM'd, we ask that the player not reference her sister Anna by name unless an Anna is planning to TDM and be part of the same AU. Elsa can reference her younger sister in threads as much as she'd like if she has a sister in her AU, but we ask that names are not specified without having that character TDM'd and without the player's permission. Please also remember that posting to the TDM does not equate a reserve, which open on 1/18.

I haven't had the best of luck when it comes to balloons today but I'll do my best! [ she has to! being a teacher to young children means being a good role model for them. she'll try to make sure if any of her students are here, they know she's working hard outside of the classroom as well. if they're around. never hurts to be careful.

she does her best to make sure the balloons are nice and secured when tying them down. after her last encounter with a balloon flying away, she wants to make sure no one experiences that so let's make sure this stays where it's supposed to be. (looks like all those camping trips paid off!) ]

... There! I think that's the last one on my end here. [ good luck trying to fly away now, balloons! she now turns to augustine, her smile bright and satisfied as she hurries over to his side. ] How are you holding up? Need an extra hand?

[For Sycamore, he managed to secure the balloons on his side and double check them so they don't fly away. However while most of the balloons he put where secured, he's worried that they might not able be secured at all.]

I think so. I'm not very good at securing knots.

[ she nods, flexing her arm to show off her (nonexistent) muscles to her friend as a sign of confidence and as a joke to keep the mood lively. ]

Leave it to me! I like to think I became a master at knots. [ kids trying to tie your shoelaces in class teaches you how to make strong knots. very quickly.

she goes to each and every one of the balloons that have been tied up, testing the strings and fixing those that were at risk of becoming untied. but, surprisingly (and happily enough) enough, there weren't that many she had to fix.

something she is very happy to report back to her friend upon looping back to where he is. ] Why- I don't know why you were so worried, Augustine.

Almost all of them are safe and sound from a dastardly gust of wind. You did great.

[One thing about Ainsley is that she is confident in helping out on others and this is one of them. Although she has a point there after she checked the balloons, he doesn't need to worry about the knots.]

That's good news. Maybe I'm just not that good at securing the ties through your heart, though.

[He didn't mean his flirting attempt to Ainsley, though as he thought of her a friend.]

Joking aside, I don't think these balloons are going nowhere. Just in time for the festivities to begin.

Really? [ here, she groans loudly at his attempt to flirt with her but the amused smile on her face and the red on her cheeks tell a different story.

this was a nice routine between the two of them. she's happier more than ever that she had assisted on stepping in to pick up the slack of the quarreling students. (who haven't returned yet at all. hmm... she'll probably need to look for them with augustine later to make sure they're not playing hooky.) ] I'm glad they're set up in time. It would be a shame if there were no balloons around to add more cheer to the activities.

Founder's Day has to be one of my favourite times of the year.[ she pauses for a bit, before adding in a thoughtful correction, ] Founders' Day, I suppose. I'm still shocked at the idea there were three more others who helped found Recollé. And to not know them too?

[She's right. While he's grateful that there's a city he likes to call home, he has still no knowledge who are the founders are nor their history before they found Recolle.]

Yeah, I'm curious about who they are or how did they found this great city. I wonder what happens if we really know Recolle's history someday?

Oh, the mere idea of learning anything about them. That'll be an amazing day! [ already her eyes are sparkling at the thought of them discovering the identities of the other founders, what they were like in the past, and how they helped shaped the city that they know today.

wouldn't it be exciting to discover a secret journal or long forgotten book about them? fanciful, she knows, but a teacher and lover of books and lore can dream... ] No doubt there'll be debates about the discovery of any information about the city. Scholars do love to question and contest and doubt until they're certain the information is true and solid.

[That will be the day. Although he's just a college professor who teaches animal biology, he might try to discover the city's history someday. But maybe he'll stick with animals and hopes that Ainsley might discover them someday for now.]

Well, I'm still glad that we still lived in this unique city, despite that I have to moved to France to study.

[A small price to pay for this scholarship, but it's worth it.]

[ one day she'll discover the truths and the answers during her pursuit of knowledge.

right now? she's simply enjoying the time she's spending with augustine today. it's just nice to spend time with friends. ] France! You do know you have to tell me about your adventures there one day. I would love to hear about what it's like there.

[ while she knows, deep down, she'll never leave the city because this is home- it doesn't mean she isn't curious of what it's like out there. and nor is it every day she gets a chance to learn about a new place from firsthand experiences. ]

Sure. Maybe I can tell you if we have some free time next week.

[And he will as soon he and Ainsley are done with their busy schedules for this week. He really wants to tell her what he experience in the city of lights someday.]

Maybe we should find those bickering couple right now and see if they calmed down.

[He means the students who were in an argument until Ainsley broke them up.]

[ it does take her a second to realise who he's referring to given how long it's been since they last saw the pair.

but when it clicks at long last, her face lights up again, this time in amusement, and she needs to cover her mouth in a futile attempt to smother the giggles. ]

Oh, do you really think so? I would hate to walk in on a lover's spat. They're always meant to be private. [ jesting aside, it does seem like a good idea to check up on them like she had hoped they'll do. ] Where do you'll think they'll be right now?

[Sycamore chuckles when it's Ainsley's turn to joke. But joking aside, if he can remember correctly, he saw one of them head off to one of the booths.]

I think I saw that young man to one of the booths. But I can't tell which one did he went to.

[Not only he's worried about where he is, but he wonders if they are going to argue once he meets the other student.]

[ should the other student still be around at all, of course. the argument was... heated - at least, the snippets she had heard were heated upon her earlier intervention - but she hopes it was given some sort of resolution.

if not then she's glad she has had years of experience in meditating fights between students. ] I guess we'll have just have to go one by one then.

Hopefully the others who are stationed there can point us to the right direction. [ surely they couldn't have gotten that far. surely. ]

I hope so. Let's go.

[Then if Ainsley follows him, Sycamore walks to the booth area of the square and asks the other students if they saw one of the bickering students from earlier. To his surprise, one of them tells him that she saw the student just bought two cups of lemonade and just heads off to find his friend.]

Well, this is a surprise. I wonder why he bought two cups of lemonade by himself.

[Despite the question he asked, he already get some ideas why. If Ainsley might get the same idea.]

[ she does, thankfully. much as she had her nose in books and papers, it doesn't take long for her to pick up.

there's a little twinkle in her eyes as she looks over to augustine, smiling at him knowledgeably after the student gives them general directions to where she last saw him go. ]

Looks like we don't need to worry about breaking up another fight, hm? quite the opposite. [ she almost wants to leave the two be but it won't do if they and their whereabouts aren't accounted for. ] At least it looks like a crisis was averted.

Thank goodness. I just hope they will able to reflect on their mistakes after their argument.

[He hopes it does. They still need to check on the students to make sure they are present and not lost.]

But we still need to check on them just in case.

Naturally. Never hurst to be too careful. [ especially considering the last time they technically saw the students, it wasn't in the best of light so! best to dot the 'i' and cross the 't' and be sure everything is well.

so they should be just ahead… past that booth…

aha! ] There you two are. You gave us quite a fright when we couldn't find you earlier. [ not entirely true but she can't help herself and teases the pair, her smile now amused yet relieved to see they're alright. ]

[That's one worry gone. At least they managed to make up for their early argument as they apologized to not only the teachers but also to each other. This makes him smile as well with Ainsley, happy that all's well that ends well.]

Well, at least you were able to learn your mistakes. How about we leave you two alone so you can enjoy the festivities?

[However, it's the students' turn to show some confused looks on their faces as they ask about the balloons. If Ainsley likes to answer them, he's happy to let her do so.]

[ she's more than happy to answer them, shaking her head as she immediately attempts to urge the students to go ahead and have some fun already.

(which they already seem to be doing but she won't point that out. she's just happy everything ended happily for everyone.) ] Don't worry about that! We dealt with that already so go out and have fun.

You best hurry! Otherwise the crowds will become so big you won't be able to get around as easily.

[The students then thank the teachers before they join the festivities, much to Augustine's relief to the fact that a small problem is over. Now all that's left is...]

How about we should join in as well? I think there's nothing to do but to enjoy the rest of what Founder's Day has to offer.

Of course. No time like the present when it comes to enjoying yourself. [ it's even better to share it with friends.

with a confident nod of her head, she now offers her arm for him to take. ] Ready? There are so many booths I want to show you!

[Well, he's supposed to guide Ainsley around like a gentleman, but since this is Ainsley he's talking about, he decides to accept her offer as he takes her arm with a smile.]

Well then, lead the way!
